A/C went out. What could be wrong??
I was driving with my boys to the shore and kept putting on the A/C then shutting it off. but it worked. We parked our cars and went out and did our thing. When we got back, the A/C would not kick on. What could this be? Could the compressor just dump out like that? Checked the belt, its fine too. Anything else???

the belt is fine, It just doesnt kick on when i hit the a/c button. It did it last night before I went in the club, I came out and it dont work. Is there a fuse or somethin? i just dont see the compressor just kicking out just like that.
My AC went out cuz a rock hit the condensor and cracked one of the small piping in the front. This caused the freon to leak out. I would try rechargin it urself and to see if there's a leak somewhere. I had to replace the whole condensor to fix my problem. Good luck.

If there's no refridgerant in the lines the compressor will not turn on. Take it to a shop and have a test done on it, they'll fill the system with dye and see where its leaking out.

Yea and until you get it checked out, don't try to turn on the A/C...you can damage your car.

I do believe, there is a pressure switch and other failsafes built
into the A/C system to prevent any damage caused by merely turning
the system "on". In others words, if it's broken, it won't turn on.
