All motor build up suggestions on B16
Okay I'm running a JDM b16a and these are the current mods
CTR cams, Venom gears, Skunk2 IM, 66 mm TB, DC header, AEM CAI and Greddy exhaust. My question is in order for this combo to work well do I need to up the compression with a new head gasket? what compression?ECU upgrade? Vafc? What should be my next step before a dyno tune? Sorry so long.

CTR cams don't neet tons of compression to work well. 11:1 should suffice. I'd get a Hondata and dyno it... might want to sell the DC and get something like Header Tech, SMSP, etc. I know that there's more power to be had just by swapping the header, the more scavenging you can get the better. At ery least though Hondata, or something like that to get you under way.

naw just get ctr pistons

Well what about GE 85mm sleeves, Arias 85mm 12.1:1 pistons and Skunk2 stage 3's along w/ Hondata?
Get and fpr and VAFC for your current set-up and hit the dyno.

You will need more ECU tuning. 180whp is possible, but you will definitely need Hondata. VAFCs hardly add as much fuel as they say they do; they can lean out well, but not richen the mixture.

Well right now the car pulls hard only up top past 6500 is there a way to move the power down lower without having to use a dyno? Like with the cam gears?
Welcome to the wonderful world of the B16. You can move the power down, but it will take more then cam gears and a whole lotta strokin.
180whp? Almost time to wake up isn't it? Not trying to discourge you, but It's gonna take a lot more then bolt-on's and CTR cams and some mild tuning to achieve roughly 40whp on a B16A.

yeah i know im dreamin but hey im trying. Im happy with the power its putting out now but i just want more power like everyone else. Gonna go with the FPR and VAFC and dyno it see what i come up with.As far as moving the power down sounds like thats where the power is on these high revvin motors oh well.
I've got a B16 with Stage2 cams, ITR manifold, 10k rev Skunk chip, CTR pistons Portflow head, 6 puc w/lightened flywheel, all in a 3rd gen CRX, running 12.8's, and I would say the next thing would be a chipped ECU, then VAFC. Got a spare ECU with the same program.
all i can say is you can count on one hand how many people have over 180WHP on a b16a, the most i've seen is 186 and that was with the works 13:3.1 compression etc..etc...
u get the drift...i personally has a b16a with every bolt on, yes it was quick i put down about 155 or so, but i blew it up, so now i am going b20/vtec and building it...

i was bored and read this post but this cracked me up. u should believe this guy with all his mods and his badass tuning hes the only one in the world that has a 3rd generation CRX. it must b lighter than the first and second gen.

LOL
LOL
3rd gens rule! Do you guys want to see the time slip or the dyno chart? All I can say is some of you guys either dont know how to tune, or build a motor, or both.
Oh yea, and apparently some dont know how to spell ,i personally has a b16a with every bolt on, yes it was quick i put down about 155 or so, but i blew it up, so now i am going b20/vtec and building it...[/QUOTE]
i personally has....no wonder his B16 only put down 155, with grammar like that it would be extremely hard to set the ring gap properly, let alone torque down a bolt.
Seriously...b16, ctr pistons, portflow head, stage 2 cams, rewired obd1, skunk10k program, lsd unit from http://www.azracemachine.com, 22x13x8 M&H slicks, 600lb springs in rear, Kiwi Fab. megaphone racing header, 6 puc clutch w/10lb flywheel, ITR manifold,
and 70mm throttle body.
