Default Skunk2 Coilover owners - I have questions for you.

Thinking about getting these in the near future, since my Neuspeed sports don't give me the drop I was looking for.

Do the coilover kits include spacers to make sure the sleeve sits squarely on the shock's spring perch?

I ask this because I have Bilsteins, and they have a different style spring perch when compared to other shocks such as AGX, Blues, Illuminas, etc. I believe the Bilstein perch is just like the Koni Yellow perch but I'm not sure. I'm worried that the sleeves won't sit flush on these perches, and the part touching the highest part of the perch will bend/break.

OR: Is it the case that the sleeves fit very closely to the shock bodies, so they would rest on the uppermost part of the perch, where it's not contoured for a regular spring?

If you have pics of how the sleeves rest on the perches, I'd appreciate it if you'd post them up.

Thanks guys!

Skunk 2 coilovers are the same as the cheapos. My springs wore out in 2 years. No there is no inner sleave or spacer. They send you O-rings. Not worth the little bit of money you will save. Save for a while longer and get GC. Plus I have heard that Skunks and Bilsteens are a no-no anyway. Call Skunk2, maybe they will tell you more about that part.

So you haven't heard why that combo is a no-no?

I was planning on going w/GC's anyway, but I don't like the OTS spring rates (isn't it like 200f/180r?) and I don't really understand how the "custom rates" thing works - like do you have to order them directly thru GC, or can retailers get the custom rates too?

Thanks for the info, Ken...

Best to order direct to get custom rates. I have heard that the Skunk collars/sleeves don't fit Bilsteens. But like I mentioned, not 100% sure.

Okay, now you'll be able to answer my question.

Actually, first of all, what year is your CRX? 88 or 89-91?

And second, how do the sleeves rest on the Bilstein perches?

Pics would be great if at all possible...

Thanks for the help!

i have skunk 2's on my 89, every now and then i get a clunk, think it's from them not sitting well. my mechanic also told me they have a problem with the springs breaking, hasn't happened yet and i hope it never does. besides the clunk they work fine.

I have the Skunk2's with Koni/Neuspeed yellows and they fit fine and the shocks are great but I am looking to replace the skunk2 coilovers cause daily driving sucks and I am pretty sure they are sagging more than they should after a year. These are on a 93 civic sedan, so not a crx but thought I'd add my 2 cents. My friend went with the GC and they are so much nicer to ride on.

I finally found the info I was looking for on pairing these up with Bilsteins, from Bryson's thread on using the Skunk2's with Bilsteins for the Accord up front.

Thanks for the help guys!!
