I was told that a B20 Block can only be taken out to 85mm and a GSR\LS to 86-87. Something about the webbing and support in the block.

*Shrugs*

G- Funny you ask this. Look what I asked Steve the other day!

RStoR: I see Gordo went 86mm. Think it could seal it if he went 87mm?

(11:04 AM 6/24/2003) sgT: i dont want to find out if 87seals. i would end up using jbweld as hg sealer

haha. interesting, well we had absoultely zero (knock on wood) problems getting this engine to seal up soooo im sure with a little bit of effort 87 wouldnt be to hard.
im planning the build of the back up motor now, and ofcourse i would want it to make more power than its predecesor.

on a side note.. im running a relatively low 13.5:1 CR so maybe that has a bit to do with it.

Let me know how that goes. I'm interested in going 6mm overbore as well but on a D-series. That is why I pitched the question to Steve. He mentioned a guy racing a hatch in your area with this set-up.

ON B-series engines the largest bore size you can go is 87mm, after that there isnt to much for the head gasket to bite to and the amount of material between the cylinder is to thin.

B series 89mm with off set bore,it'll take alot of customed work though to have it work properly. As far for D series 81mm I've seen the block from GE

thanks for the lesson in b series tech. but it does vary by who sleeved the block. the old GE's cant go past 85 and i believe the same is true for dartons.

Acutally, Darton doesnt recomend going past 85mm, and dont even want to hear your problems if you do. They told me they also dont guarantee their sleeves past 85, but that doesnt mean they wont work. If you want to find out more check out http://www.azracemachine.com, they dont show that they sleeve on their wesite, but if you call them and talk to them they resleeve B-series for a really good price, and I've seen their work and all I can say is awesome. I talk to the tech guy over their and asked him what the largest bore they have done was, and he said 86.5 in a deckplated LS/Vtec with some serious stroke. They claimed it made around 270whp all motor. Check out the site, cool stuff.

I agree...Vince told me he could do. Problem is he also recommended it as a "race only" mod. I just want to find someone doing using it so I can find out about the reliability and HG sealing issues.
