Paintjob in North Carolina
I have some damage on my 92 Si...passenger door and rear quarter...what should I expect to pay to get those repaired and the whole car painted?
The insurance adjuster said that the quarter panel and i think the door skin will have to be replaced also.
PS - This is my virgin post...be gentle

that seems a bit high to me. when i went to get an estimate at maaco, they quoted me $700 for base coat/clear coat. but that was with me doing the prep work. I'd say about $1000 out the door for the whole car (roughly). what did the appraiser say?
I damaged my rear quarter panel and had the body work done for $300. Painting the whole car is very expensive, but it all depends on who's doing the work for you. Good luck!

Holy hell... NEVER EVER go to Maaco.
Not peach, not maaco, not a $500 special. Dude, LOVE your Prelude enough to treat it to a real paint job.
Very few people realize that it's not just the act of painting that determins the quality.
You have to:
#1. have good quality paint. PPG, Dupont, House of Kolor etc... even stock stuff. Maaco just uses cheap *** crap that will fade, chip, or peel very badly in a few years. The clear coats are crap, the product is crap, the end result is crap.
#2. Professional painters have been doing it more than just a few months. Maaco people are begginers that can't get hired anywhere else, or just don't give a rats ***. Painting is an art. You also have to have no fear when laying on some coats. Thick is good. If you have a run? Wah, wet sand or polish it out. Thin, weak, pansy coats will give you orange peel.
#3. PREP TIME!!!!!!!!!! Sanding, cleaning, taping, preperation of surface, and just as important, the area in which you WILL be painting. Real shops clean regularly and are free of debris. They take time in cleaning the surface to make it free of contaminants. Over half your time should be spent in prepping the surface itself.
#4. Care. Folks at Maaco and Peach don't care. You get what you pay for. Shops that have a real reputation to uphold will make sure to take the time and care about how your car turns out. A run will be taken care of, and massive orange peel will not be in your final product. The amount of time you spend cutting and buffing afterwards will greatly effect the outcome of your end paint job.
In short. Cheap isn't good. If you're a riceboy with z3 fenders and a big wing with an illfitting cheap *** front bumper... sure, get a $500 paintjob.
If you really are a true car enthusiast, then for Gods sake, take the time to do your research.
Your rear quarter will cost you the most. Labor is what kills it. Your door skin will be easy. You should also check your rocker panel, and the trunk lid and hinges.
I imagine you are looking at easily $2500 for a properly done job.

well, my mom actually took the car to be looked at for me while i was at work...she told me that i need a new rear qtr panel and i believe a new door skin, possibly a whole new door. for those repairs and to paint the new panels and i assume also a little more around them is 2000. i want to get the whole car painted, they said the rest of the car would be 800-1000 more. what do yall think? i'd really only wanna put maybe 500 more into it, but i also dont want a maaco paintjob...ive heard so many horror stories
Im in Winston-Salem btw
