there is a much bigger market for the d16a6 which equals lower prices and avilability. also one less cam cheeper valve job will be cheaper. There is a good post right now about the d16a6 all motor build up. check that out. but for about the price of an all motor build up you could have yourself a built turbo zc with much more potential. thats just my two cents. Plus I'm a bit biased on this one since i have a built zc that i am getting ready to turbo.....peace

I would recommend the D16A6 since there are more options as far as cams for one thing.
You can do so much to the A6... it has a lot of potential.

check out our D16 stuff we offer. http://www.exospeed.com

i'd say to stick w/ teh d16a6 & build it. i swapped a zc in my car out of necessity. I blew my a6 & it wasn't worth rebuilding so i got a zc for my hatch. they are both good motors, but you can easily obtain tried & true parts for the sohc a6, but the zc won't always be so easy. the zc is nice & does have more power at 1st, but the a6 will always be a contender in my book. listen to exospeed that dude has experience w/ teh a6 & he had some pretty quick 1/4 times if I remember correctly. anywho, that's my $.02

IMO the ZC is either a cheap swap for decent power or a boost bitch. I wouldnt reccomend an n/a buildup but it would be reasonably rare. a6 for n/a, zc for boost.

If it were my choice, I would build an a6, tons more support and you don't have to worry about mix and matching parts like with a ZC. My cars boostin and pretty much complete. But if need be, I will build up an a6 if anything goes wrong.

If by A6 you mean L3, then yes

Yeah after reading his posts and his website I am definately more interested in an A6 than I was before!! I mean even though I was planning on putting the A6 in to begin with I was always thinking about a swap in the future.

I would say zc only because around here they want 475 to 550 for the a6 without dizzy, and 50 to pull it. and you could buy an zc for 500 with dizzy and you'll be starting out at 22 more horepower. But, lile everyone else says you have more aftermarket for the a6. I'm looking for valvesprings for the zc but, the only way I can get some is to send off my head to get it machined to fit ls springs in it.

You guys crack me up when you say the a6 has WAY more parts available. Guess what, all A6 internals fit in a ZC. My built ZC has ALL A6 internals inluding bearings. The only place the ZC lacks is in the valvetrain. But i'm having mine swithed over to LS valvetrain, and it's not that exspensive. So the answer is obvious....ZC all the way. Oh yeah, i'm a d-series lover, but all motor.... go b-series. Your gonna spend alot of money on a NA setup and you probbly won't be happy with the outcome. All motor, definately b-series.

hrmmm ya the reason i want to do ZC is because i have about 3 complete motors all with some sorta damage.,.
hrmm boosted_zc LS valve train fits on ZC ??

i was just thinking to get some pistons and rods to raise compression to 11.5:1
sound good ??

yeah it's not like you have to settle for piston and rods combos that have a bad rep(srp/eagle), now with the support for the zc you can still go (je/crower or cp/pauter).

the ls springs and the zc springs have the same outer diameter, but the ls stem length is longer so, dh-racing, makes the depth deeper in your head to accomodate the longer ls valvesprings.
