help, I threw a code on my 6th gen. what could have happened?
so I'm driving around an on ramp and come onto a main road. I downshift to second and punch it. well the car starts to go, and all the sudden my car stops sucking air. my car did not respond. I take my foot off the gas pedal, and try it again and its works but the engine lite goes off. The air outside was really dense, could that have anything to do with it? I checked under the hood to make sure my intake, and the vacume line were attached and everything seems ok under the hood. Anyone know what could have happened? I'm thinking of droping it off at the dealership and have them do the 90000 service early, and change my timing belt. My car has about 87000-88000 miles on it now. anyone know what I should do?
I don't have acess to any type to diagnostics device. the engine light is on, and it is solid. is there another way to read the code?
dont know about 6th gen's...but with a 5th gen there an electrical connector under the glovebox with 2 wires leading into it thats not hooked up to anything. You hookup a bent wire or paperclip into each slot (each end of the paperclip into the slot corresponding to each wire). once thats in you start the car and the engine check light will blink once real quick...then it'll give you a series of long beeps for the first digit...and then pause..then give you a series of short beeps for the second digit. so like...three long beeps and then 2 shorts beeps would be a code 32. You then look up the code in a users manual or you can prolly find it on the net.
If it's different for your car i'm sure there's other resources on the net you can find by doing a search...or you can pickup a repair manual for your car at any autozone which will explain this in better detail and also give you the error codes and what they mean.

here is a link on how to check what code you have thrown. I would first check that and then come back and give a more informed question.
Hmm, not totally sure about 6th gen Accords but here's a link on checking 4th gen Accord engine lights, resetting ECU, etc.

Around here anyway, AutoZone will plug in a scanner & read your code for free. Ask for the actual code number, not just the guy's verbal description. It's gonna be Pnnnn where nnnn is some 4-digit number. Post the number, we'll give you some BS uhhh, I mean advice, about it.
If he doesn't want to clear the fault for you, you can pull out fuse #13 in the right-side doorjamb fusebox. You'll have to reset your clock, but you won't need your radio theft code. (At least for my '98, probably for all 6th gen.)
How old are your regular tune-up things? Like spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, plug wires, .... Getting your 90k stuff done a little bit early won't hurt, I'm glad you're gonna get the timing belt done. If you already know what code it's throwing before taking it in, you can be more intelligent when you talk to the shop.

man, I feel like such a dumb ***. I haven't checked my oil in about 2 weeks and it was fine. of course last week I went to the track and got 9 runs in, and I just went this past wed. I'm pretty sure it was my oil was low. How badly have I injured my engine?
well if you did not trip the oil light then you are lucky to get away with no damage......
I would not be worried about it. I would be looking for a leak if I was you........
