Default question on car alarms..

sorry if this is the wrong forum but wasn't sure where else to post..

anyways, i recently got a 01 gsr (post pics later) and i need a car alarm...i was considering a Viper alarm but how does the Alpine alarm compare? most people i've asked locally havent heard of the Alpine alarm and they opt for the Viper..i'm going to be spending around $200 and was just wondering what types of alarms u guys would recommend and if the Alpine alarm would be a bad purchase...thanks!

Clifford is the best but be sure not to get the version made by DEI or whatever it is. All those viper/rattler etc are basically the same. There was a good thread on alarms I read once. Just do a search in the archives

I heard also instead of getting an alarm just change the bolts on your steering wheel column or something and get auto lock instead b/c most theives can locate the brain easily since they are put up under the dash

please, for the love of your teg, get an alarm with a pager. Otherwise, when you are at the mall or whatever, you arent going to hear the alarm go off and your shi* is going to get jacked. With the pager, you can run into the parking lot and personally run the thief off. My CD player got jacked in the middle of the day while my alarm was going off. I have no pager.

I hear good things about clifford alarms as well. What do they go for and what features do they have?

Clifford Matrix RS3 alarm. Can get pricey unless you have good friends in the bus, but it has the cool pager, remote start, alarm, etc. All the good stuff, made by DEI, can't go wrong. I love mine.

my friend had a pager alarm installed on his e36 m3...but then something happened and his wiring system was all messed up (not sure of the details)..i'm not sure if it was due to the alarm either...but from that experience i haven't really trusted the pager alarms...and i havent seen/heard that many people use them...but i'll look into the clifford..thanks fomanpu
