Man, my day sucked, how was yours?
First off, I just got home from grabbing some DEL TACO when I left my windows down and car unlocked right in front of my girlfriend's house. It's not the nicest of areas and I know I should lock my doors and roll my windows up all the time, but this time It was 1:30PM and in broad daylight.
We were going to go to Moreno Valley to pick something up from her orthadonist (sp?) when I got in my car and all of my **** was thrown around and my CDs were missing. The trunk was popped and my CRAFTMAN toolset that I got for christmas was gone. My 2 Maglite flashlights, skateboard, backpack, and underwear were still there. Damn, ************* stole *ALL* of my CDS and my damn hundred dollar tool set. ****!
Anyways, I'm pissed and we're late for her pickup. We hop on the 60 EAST towards Moreno Valley and we're cruising. All of a sudden the white ford expedition that was in front of us slammed on his brakes. I slammed on mine. My tires screeched and I barely missed hitting him. The guy behind me wasn't as lucky. He attempted to dodge my car with no avail and rear ended my driver's side.
That was my day, how was yours? (BTW, he had a 1980 Volkvswagen Cabriolet on some 18 chrome wheels)

I have never had my CD's stolen, more luck than anything. I have been rearended and it pisses me off so much. LESSON to you tailgaters out there, DONT TAILGATE ME!!!!
sorry man, that sucks, hope insurance takes care of you. You didn't happened to get a police report of the theft, did you? You could claim that to your insurance and insurance will cover stolen CDs, but they have a limit of I think 20 CDs. Anyways, first thing I'd check is your frame rail. Just look under the bumper and compare it to the undamaged (passenger) frame rail. I'm hoping the driver side isn't tweaked. If it has any signs of compression or any damage, find the best body shop and I mean the ones that do thorough work and take it there.
Damn that sucks. I hope when you got out of the car you complained of neck pains. And tell the guys insurance company that every night since the accident you you wake up screaming and in a cold sweat. Tell them also that you see wierd animals with the heads of Christina Aguilera (sp?).
OH OH OH! Tell them whent he guy hit you, he knocked your Toda B cams right out of your engine and now they are gone!
Anyways, sorry to hear man, but hopefully his insurance should take care of ya

*INSURANCE STUFF*
For those of you who routinely carry a lot of cd's and other removables in your car (tools, clothing, etc), MAKE SURE you check with your agent/company to make sure this stuff is covered!! My roommate had his cd player and 200+ cd's stolen last year. State Farm replaced the stereo, but NOT the cd's. With SF at least, you have to request contents coverage.
Typically, companies will cover anything bolted or otherwise permanently attached to the car. So, cd player, screwed-down amp, that stuff is covered. Cd's and the radar detector on the dash are not, by default, covered.
Check with your agent. Tell him/her what you carry in your car and make sure it will be replaced!

That is a bad day.
It's called a consignment waiver, that allows your insurance to cover whatever is in your car that is MOUNTED to it. Most insurance companies will not normally replace personal items that you cannot prove were in the car, though I got them to give me some cash for my stolen sub when my car got broken into. Yes, make sure your insurance company knows what is mounted to your car, and KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS.
I keep my CDs in a case, and it goes with me every time, because they stole my case of cds last time too.

I know your pain with regard to the CD's being stolen. I live in a supposedly low crime rate area, nice suburb...well, a few years back my 91 CRX was brokwn into right in my driveway, my stereo, every CD I owned, and my bass tube were stolen, plus a smashed window. It happened on Thanksgiving morning, too. I was so pissed I couldn't even eat any Thanksgiving turkey. Now I take my stuff into the house and/or hide it out of sight everywhere I go, even in my driveway. Hell, now I use my club too, why take chances?
Skafia,
Sorry to hear that.
I just lost a $187,000.00 deal. Now I have to tell the fiancee that I can't get her new shoes.

Treat the accident as an opportunity to update. When they are doing the body work have them shave the antenna, also have them install the 98+ rear bumper cover. The rear bumper cover bolts on directly and is the same price, and the antenna shouldn't be much in labor if they are replaceing the rear quarter. I can't tell by the pictures but you could also update the tailamps to the newer all red. I had all of this done on a 96 teg I owned when it went in for repair.

Yeah, I will run down to the Mercedes dealer and pick up one of the ultrasound backup bumpers. Those things are cool. I don't turn my head anymore, just step on the gas really hard and when the thing starts to beep I just slam on the brakes.

I learned my lesson, I'll lock my damn doors and roll up my windows next time.

Haha, my insurance guy/lawyer (hehe) seemed a little bit pushy about filing a personal injury claim, even after i told him I was fine! I actually had to take my girlfriend to the extended care center because her head was hurting. Turned out that she just got a little bump on the back of her head from the headrest.
Champ#358:
I'm wearing that pair right now.
01TypeR:
Heh, I guess my day was nothing compared to yours, you corporate loser!
GSRgrrl:
JDM rear end would mean 94-97 tail lights, eeww!
Actually, I do have 98+ Integra tail lights on my car. You can't tell from the 2 pictures above though.
I spoke to my insurance company today and my agent filed a claim against the other guy's company. I hope to hear from them tomorrow.
I called my local Acura dealer and asked where I should take my car, they suggested a nearby body shop that they take all of their cars to (Holme's Autobody in Riverside).
I just got my estimate from Holme's tonight too, grand pre-liminary total: $4,177.00 (A complete strip down is required to complete this estimate).
From the estimate it's pretty damn extensive. They're tearing the quarter panel off, the trunk deck/lid, the rear bumper cover, the complete left side of the car off (including power mirrors + doors??), and they're also going to straighten out my subframe.
This accident seemed bad at first but now I'm excited to get my **** fixed. I'm going to get a 98+ rear bumper cover, new emblems/vtec badge, and I'll probably get my side moldings shaved and my side skirts painted.
Regarding my CDS: No I didn't file a police report or a claim of any sort. I lost about 50 CDS (they were mostly The Specials & Unwritten Law), I have all the cases for them so I know what people can get me for christmas.
I was also thinking about having a stake out and leaving a $20 bill on my passenger seat to see who comes by and tries this **** again...
Again, thanks EVERYBODY for replying to my post, makes me feel good when people actually do care!
I'll keep you guys updated on what's going to happen!
