Default flywheel question

I was told that for a fact that too light of a flywheel can lower perfomance in a n/a car, true?(ex. clutchmaster vs toda)

never heard that and not seen it either. I have a 7 lb Fidanza flywheel and I have seen no performance lost at the track, Stip or Dyno.

That makes no sense, IMO.

It is possible that a light flywheel will hurt the launch on some vehicles, but subsequent acceleration gains will make up for it ... however i dont think the ITR will be one of them.

I've seen some places that say it weighs 7lbs and some that say it weighs 6.7.

I weighed my Comptech flywheel in at 6 lbs 12 oz.

Also, people seem to forget that a pressure plate is bolted to the flywheel. Pressure plates in our cars weight about 10 lbs so you can't just talk about the flywheel weight alone. (Integra clutches also weight about 2 lbs.)

On a poorly balanced engine, one could imagine a too-light flywheel causing vibration or roughness (or stalling), but these are not issues on the wonderful B18C5.

I wish I had the comptech. I couldn't find any place to sell me one really fast / locally. They all had to order it from comptech, and I had to wait a week +.

Just wondering what exactly are the negative affects of dumping the clutch at a high RPM with a light flywheel? Is it a myth that you might damage it?
