Default timing? distributor? plug wires? rotor? cap?

i was cheking my timing on the newly done mini me swap, timign seemed to be fine
but while playing withteh timign light i decided to point it on teh cam gear and looked at teh up mark, it alwyas appeared in teh same place, except once in a while it would skip to somwehre else. why would this happen, could it be because of a bad rotor, cap, rotor cover, distributor itself? please help

Probably nothing to worry about. Timing lights just sometimes dont pick up the signal. Your using the kind that clips over the plug wire, right?

if it clips on to the plug wire, then it might not be reading that cylinder. is the car running fine?
