EG- Tire/wheel sizes and scrubbing
Hello. I've been doing a bit of research to pick out tires and wheels for my 1992 CX and now I need to hear your experiences to find out if they'll actually fit.
I'm going to be running 16 x 7.5" wheels with either 225 or 245 width tires to deal with immense amounts of HP (400+). Will these will fit on an EG? I will be running custom/modded fenders, so rolling the fenders isn't an issue. The only thing I'm concerned about is interference with the suspension/chassis. I have JimFab traction bars as well.
The 16" tires that I'm looking at have a diameter in the range of 24-25" while 15" wheels have a diameter of around 23-24".
Anyone have any experience running anything like this setup? Will I need to run wheel spacers as well?
Thanks
Ben

I've tried 225 50 16 hoosiers on my 92 civic hb last year with Kosei K1. I have to cut the fender and rivet a 2 inches flares, on top of that I have to run a 25mm spacer to clear the inside. I don't really like the respond with the big tires in autox. So I switch it back to 15s now. Anyway, what's the main purpose of your car, autox? track?
Thanks very much for the response.
What in particular didn't you like about the feel of the car?
The main purpose of the car is the One Lap of America race which is mostly roadcourses. Does anyone know a cheaper source of spacers than optauto.com?
They want $120 for a pair of 25mm spacers.
Thanks

My car is mainly for autox. with the bigger tires which are 2 inches taller, I felt the steering respond is slower, the engine revs slower with longer gearing. But that might be different if you are doing track events or road racing and if you run more boost.
I bought my spacers from option auto salon because the H&R ones are in much better quality than the others. all spacer that big with built in studs are about the same price.
