exhaust leak noise
has anybody here ever had a problem with an exhuast leak or anything of the like? about a month ago, i began to notice that when i accelerate, there is a rattling (sounds like when you put a baseball card in your bicylce spokes) noise coming from under the car towards the headers. i'm thinking it might be an exhaust leak but i cant find anything wrong at the flanges. do you guys think it might be a gasket problem??? if anybody here can help me out...let me know! thanks.

Well since you brought it up. I can hear the same ticking (air noise) on my EP3. I thought it was just my imagination. I wonder about that myself.

i have that in my benzo....i guess its from abusing it too much lol...but yea, i've gone under it and checked for loose connections and it all seems fine...however i get the rattling ticking noise...and it gets freaking loud and ANNOYING...
sometimes the bolts that connect either your cat or test pipe(more then likely your cat) are too short and u need longer ones so the springs on the bolts can do their job when the motor flexes. hope this helps
my buddy just went through this problem with his dc5. it was the cat that had somehow been busted open and the innards were rattling around. replacing the cat and gasket from the b-pipe fixed it.
let me guess, you have a dc ceramic header? if so you could have gotten one of the first ones where the collector plate, that thing that turns the header into a 4-2-1, wasn't welded on. they corrected that problem with the newer batches and they have the welds. i bet you anything that that plate came loose and is making that noise. if so call dc they will take care of it or get someone to weld it for you if it hasn't bent.

my car kind of rattles when it's cold. it was really bad in the winter, but now once the idle normalizes, i can't hear it.
it probably has to do with an exhaust leak around where the midpipe meets the axleback since i had new flanges made and the stock ones are impossible to replicate (aside from cutting them off and welding onto the new midpipe).
no leaks by the cat though.

no...i dont have ceramic or any type of aftermarket header. i have the stock header with the stock exhaust. i did have a tanabe exhaust before, but sold it. i noticed the sound when i had the tanabe exhaust and it was still there when i put the stock exhaust back on. any advise now?

its covered by the factory...if you have not installed headers, why touch the car at all! take it in to the acura dealer and make them fit it!
when i have a problem they see me and my car@ 7:30am and they allways get it handled! and if not try talking to them after the service, before te CSI servey is sent to you. it worked for me when my service experience was not what i expected...and when i asked them "what do you want me to do w/ this servey?" they have kissed my ***, ever sense that day!!!!
good luck to you!
