Idle is not as steady as my CTR's...is this normal? I tried raising the idle a bit to 1200 and it's at least manageable. I noticed too that sometimes the idle is steady between 800-900 rpm but sometimes after hard driving, tach goes below 500 and immediately dies. Driving to work this morning especially through heavy traffic is not fun. Heel and toe is slightly difficult especially if you have the gas pedal slightly higher than usual...
C's (and B's) primaries are almost as big as the CTR's vtec lobe. You need good tuning to get them to idle correctly. My B's idle almost like stock, although they sound a hell of a lot different

Chad sent me some info about the upcoming carshow down there...I'm busy autoXing and fixing my car, so i can't really commit. About your Q, Yes I am...but I'm thinking of getting the ones made by Toda in a month or so. I've heard mixed info about that too, but just to be on the safe side. My timing belt is pretty new anyway and i dont think a balanced motor would cause the timing belt to snap even on high rpm's.
Toda B, C, and D's are a little trickier to get to idle correctly-this is normal, due to the bigger non-VTEC lobes. And upgrade your timing belt ASAP, I have heard too many stories of stock belts shredding teeth, even relatively new stock belts.

I hear ya on the belts...only thing is I'm using LS waterpump etc and I wonder if Toda makes one for the LS block...otherwise I have to get one for the B18C and have to upgrade all pumps to make it work.

Someone local is offering me a set of extrude-honed skunk2 intake and he said would give me at least 5whp...I doubt it though, but if he can back it up with dyno results, I'll take it.

found out last night that my distributor igniter's going bad...reason for the fluctuating idle (i think). I'm getting another distributor this afternoon and will find out if it fixes my problem.
*I can simply replace my igniter too, but long story (for the inquiring minds)

The VTEC lobe won't affect the idle of an engine, the primary/non-VTEC lobe will. When you compare the Toda B/C and JUN lll primary lobes you will understand why the Toda cams have lumpy idle. The Toda cams have 11 mm lift on the primary lobe while the JUN lll cams have 9 mm list max.
