Default J's Racing intake w/Apex-i power filter???

I'm in Japan right now visiting family and I stopped by a local Autobacs to pick up some JDM goodies.. I'm wondering if its possible for a Apex-i power intake to fit on the J's Racing carbon fiber intake power chamber?? I already have both of them on order along with some other stuff.. If both don't compliment each other then I guess I have to sell one of them back in america.. Please post up if you have any info on this topic, thanks, peace

I've wanted to do that, but the price of the filter over here makes it impractable. As long as the filter fits on the stick you should be fine. I believe the J's is 5" diameter.

ps how much are you getting the filter for?

5" diameter sounds a bit steep for a filter made to fit a stock ITR arm .. Hopefully it fits.. The J's intake was 24800 yen (about $210) and the Apex-i filter was 10360 yen (about $88). So its kinda cheap since there's no shipping fee (I live in Hawaii so shipping from the mainland is very expensive)..

apexi isn't suppose to fit the stock itr arm... it is made to fit the apexi arm..
but apexi has many sizes bring the j's pipe into the store with the filter and try on everyone untill it fits.. that's what i would try .

I already ordered the one specifically made for the ITR.. I don't think apex-i makes intake arms

It will NOT fit - I had the DC2 version of the Apex'i filter and let Flux try it with his J's sausage

I believe Apex-i do make intake pipe (arms) for the DC2 cause I think I saw the DC2 Intake Kits while I was at one of the Autobacs earlier this year...

I got my DC5 Apex-i intake kit (filter + piping) for 13000yen when they were having a big sale

The DC2 version of their intake comes with a cast iron intake pipe piece which serves as a junction between the filter base and the rubber intake arm. Unfortunately, the diameter of said piece is only like 3.25"

Like everyone said, if you ordered the filter for the ITR, it will not fit on the J's sausage.

yup...you'll need to modify it in some way...where in Japan are you? i hope you aren't trying to buy the power filter at Autobacs...they are overpriced there. I can get them for a lot less.

I had the Apex'i filter/intake prior to the J's intake. In fact I still have both, and in order for you to use the Apex'i filter element on the J's intake, would require an adapter from the smaller filter opening to the larger intake inlet.

Bottleneck anyone?

I was thinking the same thing after hearing everyone's comments.. Only thing, wouldn't it be less efficient for the intake since the small diameter apexi filter will bottleneck the entrance to the piping?? I know the apexi filter is a high flow filter but its like the whole "sucking through a straw" model..
