Well...the supposedly 3 month old engine that was in the Hatch i just bought a couple weeks ago blew tonight on the way home.

No excessive driving, just a loud mechanical tick for several seconds then one solid bang and a long trail of oil.

Im assuming it threw a rod, more than likely through the block or pan. Either way is a moot point now. This car is a daily driver, so i need something quick.

I would prefer the stock D16Z6...but at this point anything I can drop in the bay will work. So anyone local with a spare motor, that runs, laying around...name your price.

Local would be Bay Area: Tampa, St pete, up to about an hour and a half north of st pete.

Also any ideas on local salvage yards with a good supply of salvaged import motors. Good shops to work with. Im kind of in a tight money bind.

 

Im in Tampa.. check out ACE Junkyard, and Magic Used Auto Parts.... one of the two can probably can come through for you. I don't know of anyone selling a motor as of now though sorry.

 

That sucks. I have a 93 d16z6 I pulled from my car when I did my swap. I will let it go for cheap. Needs a new head. I know that I am a noob here- used to post every now and then I think I got purged. I post on clubsi.com a lot. If you ask around you will know I am not some scamer. Anyway if you are interested let me know and I will give you pics and all that. Hope this is of some help to you.

Ended up towing it to a local shop today.

New low mileage stock d16z6 motor w/ 3 year warranty installed within a week. $2100

lol...almost just sprung for the b16a2 to hold me over till an h22...but couldnt come up with the extra money.
