Comptech Icebox installed: review
I just installed a comptech icebox for my 97 JDM ITR motor. I know the butt dyno is misleading, but I definitly notice more power down low and midrange. I honestly can't say if I lost any topend power after ditching the AEM CAI. i guess only a dyno comparison would show the truth. But overall the quality was great, no fitment issues, I purchased through landspeed racing, and I wont order from there again, ever. I guess thats a different story
I've had the icebox on for about a year now. No problems. I've never had the car dynoed, but I think it makes a noticable difference. Also, I love the sound.

No it won`t, because it`s not possible to dyno an intake and expect the "truth"...
The truth is the power curve while the car is moving.... That`s completely different to a dyno run... Please forget that dyno-thing unless you use a wind-channel.
The Icebox is fine but the only thing you get might be a better response... Intakes are not THAT big thing for making serious power....

Give Comptech a call. Hehehe...See what they say. I have a customer who's waiting patiently for one right now.

True, you maybe can see a difference on the dyno... you should... because different intakes ake a differnt amount of air from a different place under the hood..
All I say (and that can be proven by sience very easy) is, that the conditions (during a ride) of the air flowing around the car and under the hood of the car, where different conditions (vacuums etc.) appear, are not comparable with the conditions on a dyno without wind channel....
Possibly the intake which performs best on an oldschool dyno is only second choice while the car is moving through cool air...
It`s that dyno-addiction people in US seem to celebrate... They need dynos or they won`t buy it. There are other ways to dyno an intake.... Clocking the acceleration time between 30 and 120 miles, or topspeed test (in my eyes the best way to find out if you`ve gained some topend power... the car runs a few km/h faster if you had been able to find some hidden torque at high rpms...)
A good dyno will show you what intake performs best on the dyno...How often do you run your car on the dyno ?
Clock your lap times and you will find out that a good tire, a stiff chassis, good balance and a good suspension, also fine brakes are things that make you definetly faster. An intake may give you half a second, but a great gripping tire gains a few seconds.... Too bad you can`t dyno a tire...
Well,
I`m running the icebox too.... Good response but the truth is: It did not make me run faster laps... dyno or not.

i got my icebox brand new for $143.00 shipped. i love it! power low and mid. very nice mod. and no onw ever notices it either! and definately quieter than the AEM CAI. i give it a
Icebox roxors. I got mine last year from IPSRacing.
Does anybody notice a power difference in running a stock ITR tube or the Comptech Intake arm? I'm thinking about getting the Intake arm for some under the hood BLING.

I just switched from my AEM CAI to the Icebox on my GSR. I also feel that I gained low end power but I feel a small amount was lost on the top end. This is all work done on the butt and ear dyno though so we all know how reliable that is. To make a long story short, I like my Icebox much better then the AEM CAI!!!

I run the full comptech intake setup. I love it. But the only complaint is that the top of my icebox doesn't fit well. It doesn't close all the way and lock down.
My friends icebox fits perfectly. I tried to reinstall it, but it doesn't help.

i read somewhere on some thread that someone did a dyno with the stock arm and the comptech intake arm and there was like a 2 WHP difference i think, or maybe it was like 1 HP diff. i also heard the same about the stock intake filter and the comptech foam one. but i think there is some sort of mistake on the filter part.
