get a punch the same size as the pin, and a hammer. line the punch up in the hole, and swing the hammer at it. took me about 3 hits to get it out, and that was the first time the pin was ever taken out too.

or use a 3/8" bolt and grind the threads off of it, or use an AC bracket bolt. or the right sized punch as mentioned before. All three work great.

I believe the right size punch is an 8mm.

if you try to use anything but the exact size of the pin to hit it out with the pin will just tighten up more when you strike it. make sure your not using anything with a taper.........man that thing was a bitch when i didn't know what i was doing

I personally use a 5/16 flat faced punch, not tapered to get that pin out. DO NOT use a tapered punch. It will just spread the pin out more and make it more difficult to get loose.

I guess SNAP-ON makes a special punch that the correct size and even has a "guide pin" thingy to center the punch on the roll pin.

I need to pick up one of those. In the meantime, my punch has worked fine for me.

i use one of my big phillips screwdrivers from craftman.... go under hood and put the tip on the pin.... lean the screwdriver against the rear motor mount....... use a long tube(one from jack or cherry pciker works) place it on top of the screwdriver and hammer that thing down... usually comes out in one hit...

I don't understand why you guys make such a big deal of that pin. It's just a roll pin. Buy a roll pin punch, it isn't tapered and has a centering ball to help you drive it out. Any tool manufacturer makes a set. I think the one I use is a snap on 1/4".
