Default No more Carlisle

Well, the town of Carlisle still exists, and most of the car shows will continue as they did in the past, but the Custom Compact Show is cancelled indefinately. This month's Grassroots Motorsports had a little blurb saying that due to problems both on the fairgrounds and off, the show has been removed from the 2004 calender. The local police issued something like 200 - 300 tickets this year during that weekend. D'oh!

Let's just make sure that Hyperfest doesn't end up in that same toilet...

Playing devil's advocate here - as long as there were no deaths I'd think the police and community should welcome the surge on their economy (local business, ticket fines, etc).

Obviously they decided that the problems outweighed the benefits. I guess they get enough revenue from the other weekends that they were willing to get rid of that particular one. Maybe they are replacing it with something that draws a more mature crowd? It really is a shame that those guys can't use their heads (the big heads that is), and behave like normal people. Then again, they have movies like Fast and the Furious to reinforce the notion that what they are doing is appropriate, and "cool".

This happened the Monday after the event There was a huge town meeting, plastered all over the news.

I talked to the event organizers and they said they are just moving the event to another location that can handle the influx of people AND someplace where it will not disrupt the town of Carlisle.

It wouldn't be right to hold an event like that at VIR. My guess is that it's still a virgin to rice-fests. Also, VIR is close to nothing. Lowes may be a different story.

Good point. I was thinking about VIR from the size of the grounds standpoint. Now that I think about it, getting in and out of there would be a bitch with 50,000 riceboys. Charlotte on the other hand is built to handle that.

Well remember it's still hosted by the Carlisle Productions.
