removal of cable VSS in CRX D series tranny...
I removed the clip for the cable, removed a 10 mm bolt + small peice of metal.
What needs to be done to get the damn thing out? BTW, the tranny is still in a CRX being parted out, and I need this part for a swap.
TIA

....I don't know if you have done this or not, you didn't state it, but you have to remove your instrument cluster and disconnect the cable from the back of your speedo (just a plastic clip). It was a lot easier for me to pull it out from the dash than under the hood....hope that helps.
Take a pair of vice grips and lock them on to the speedometer cable gear holder (that's the name of the part you're trying to remove), and then just work it back and forth. It's not easy to break loose, so you may also want to try some PB Blaster or other rust penetrator.
Don't try to pry it out with a screwdriver... I managed to break the little slot that the little peice of metal goes into when I tried that method first.

they are talking about the VSS, not the cable. the cable plugs into the VSS.

ah okay. BTW, when i did my swap, i didnt use the power steering, and there were two little lines running to the VSS that were power steering lines... just wondering, but are they for speed assisted power steering or whatever its called? i just cut them and left them, didnt seem to cause any problems
Ok, wasn't sure if I had to play hard ball or not.
Since this car lived through, ohh 14 winters, the salt is holding it in really good.
Thanks!
