Default Mugen Exhaust

Hi Guys, thanks for the tip on exhaust.
Now I would like to find out from Mugen exhaust owner how does the sound of it compare to the normal one? I want a deeper sound but does not want it too loud like the N1 exhaust do.

Thanks again!!

i got your twin loop right here mang!
the sound is amazing...when VTEC kicks in, it's hella sweet. on surface street driving, it sounds almost like stock exhaust but a little bit more of a low rumble tone to it. getting on the freeway on-ramp is fun too
personally, i'd never spend $300-$400 on an exhaust but since i got it for $200...it was hella tiiiiiiite and couldn't pass it up!!!!!!!

here are some pics to drool on:

if you're planning on getting it for an ITR, i suggest you do it...it will only make it more fun to drive

I had the Mugen twin loop and header on my car for a couple of years (this was before SMSP, TODA or Hytech came on the scene btw).

I really really liked the exhaust. It gets MUCH louder at the track when you heat it up real good. I sold it to Dr. Pooface.

BPR - who misses his nice quiet exhaust since he switched to the ear blasting 2.5" system.

The trick is to use a resenator, or another muffler, to cut down on the sound, after you do that it will sound just fine with our without a straight pipe. Great exhaust got mine used also, from TodaSi when he sold his Si. Sounds great, but right now sounds liek crap cuz i have like 234234234234 exhaust leaks. I need a new axel back gasket.

Ive had the mugen twinloop on for about 3 weeks now and can definitely comment on the sound/performance. It has a unique sound, and when you start up the car its very very quiet until you drive for a little while and warm up the car. Around town it sounds stock, just a bit deeper... but once the exhaust warms up, it get louder and deep in the midrange (3-5k). Its nothing at all like most exhausts you hear... the exact opposite of an N1 system. Some might not like how quiet it is... and im running a T1R testpipe (resonated) so it still doesnt make a lot of noise. The only gripe i have is a big bottleneck before the first resonator... its designed to fit the stock cat so the cat flange is only 2" wide and piping to the resonator. Other than that its a top notch system and the quality is as good as it gets. If you want straight out performance tho, id suggest something like SMSP or 2.5" with no bottlenecks.

You got it to fit on a DC2? I emailed King long ago and they said that it would not fit. That said, I have driven a Civic Si with the Mugen axleback and it sounds nothing like the Mugen catback on my R, the Civic Si exh was not nearly as loud. It seemed quieter than stock if thats possible!

I would save and get the mugen. If your going NA its a great muffler, lots of good low end, and sounds awesome (if thats all your worried about). Personally I think its a great match for the ITR, and would do it all over given the choice. If you want one, wait for a good group buy (or organize it yourself) to save a little $$$. Personally I went through a friend in Columbus (Trey), but I think he got it through a GB and just sold it to me for the same price. R&D rules, and you may want to talk to Dave when your ready to place your order!

Mugen=$1000+tax 2 3/8"piping

Hytech=$800 2.5" piping

I have the Mugen but, I should have got the Hytech. It wasn't out yet.

I got mine with a test pipe and it is quiet. When it gets hot man that thing gets loud but not nasty loud. I love it and would buy it all over again if I had to. The only thing I did to mine is plasma cut the pipe going into the twin loop and got a true 2.5" stainless pipe plumbed up. For some reason the Mugen pipe is not a pure stainless.

the one i bought was off of a guy's car that got hit like 5 mins before i took it off of his Civic Si coupe
he says he got it from King and it's an authentic Mugen...too bad for him...i feel bad for buying it from him...i think i low balled him...i was unbolting it before it even got cold

That is the nicest exhaust I have ever seen. Don't worry about the sound, this exhaust will probably be the nicest ones you can find.
