A great dealer story
Went to acura of Greenwich in CT to test drive the RSX Type S. Then I see a 2000 Type R on the lot. Boy do I miss my car. Anyways start talking to the salesman about the type S and type R. Blah blah blah. I ask him how much for the type R. First off the R has 22000 miles on it and its a 2000. Its also lowered and says there also more mods done to it. So I'm like could I see under the hood, He goes I'm sorry one of the tech guys has the keys and he's out to lunch. WTF. OK back to the price remember a 2000 R with 22000 miles. They are selling it for 25 grand. I go isn't that a lot. He says yeah but were the only dealer that has one so we could sell it at that price. What ever this guy was smokin was some cheech and chong **** b/c I don't know who will buy that car. Greenwich Acura are a bunch of ********. Sorry for the long post.
Thats actually not a bad price at all, in Nashua, NH at Sunnyside Acura about two weeks ago they sold a PY 2000 Type R with 8K on it for 27000 without a problem. I just got mine there in March for 24,900 brand new. Thank God I didn't wait.
Usually (in my experience) when you buy a car from a dealership in a richer neighborhood, they give you less of the usual dealer tactics. Greenwich is about as rich as it gets...weird.

man... don't mess up the rotation...

What a goober....
The sad thing is that someone will probably buy it as is.
WILL
Yeah I dont think they'll have a problem moving that car. Some kids with rich parents will do anything to have a Type R. I have seen used Rs going for much more than new ones. The blue book might say they are worth less but I think it is enough of a collector car that it appreciates in real value after you buy it, in terms of what someone will actually give you for it.
I just pick up mine on July 13th with 260 miles on it for msrp (24,995 or something like that). I tried to talk the dealer down too, but they would have none of that since they knew it was one of the last ones on the east coast. Over all the dealer was realy nice (Ardmore Acura, PA), however, I asked for a bra for the 1200 mile hike back to south Florida and they did not have any. They did not have any front bumper plugs either, gota track thouse down.

The salesman that sold me my '00 R (Curry Acura) called me at home on Monday night and asked me if I wanted to come in and test drive the RSX.
His exact words:
"If you think your Type R is fast, wait til you drive the Type S." I couldn't help laughing out loud, I then told him that I'd stop by on Saturday for a test drive, but made it clear that trading in the R is completely out of the question. Can you believe the clowns they have working in new car dealers!

Hey, I also test drove the RSX Type S in Greenwich Acura. They boast about being the 2nd best ranked Acura dealership in the country. Wow, there must be about 12 NSX parked outside and 10 Ferraris across the street, some M3's down the block and Porsche right near it. You won't find a place with nicers cars than Greenwich.
Just wondering, what are you doing in Greenwich CT when you're in NYC? I work there and live in Queens. I raced a 2 yellowed type R around the area, was that you? BTW I have a 2001 Silver GTS with all the boltons.

I think they may be the 2nd for NSX sales in the country. (They used to be first, but now Niello Acura in Sacramento is.) But they're not 2nd ranked in customer satisfaction.
Acura has a "Precision Team" award that they give to dealers. To quote from the Acura website:
"These dealers have consistently proven to go above and beyond the high Acura standards of customer satisfaction and overall performance. Precision Team members are determined by Acura owners and must exceed high Acura standards for performance in both of the following areas:
Sales Satisfaction
- Sales Consultant Performance
- Vehicle Delivery Process
- Sales Follow-Up
- Vehicle Condition at Delivery
Service/Parts Satisfaction
- Repaired Right the First Time
- Service Time
- Service Advisor Performance
- Vehicle Available When Promised
- Quality of Work
- Service Follow-Up
- Parts Availability
- Vehicle Condition at Delivery"
You can look at the most recent list of Acura's Precision Team dealers here. Greenwich Acura isn't on it.
I was over at Acura of Auburn today getting some service done, and they convinced me to take a new RSX Type-S out for a spin. It pretty much seemed more like a luxury car, and not a sports car at all. It could not take corners at all, sure, the body seemed rigid, but the Michelin tires *sucked*. It may have been just as fast or faster than my R, but it just didn't seem it at all. The redline was at 8000, and you didn't get that mean growl after 6000 PRM. I ended up hitting the rev limiter twice at 8400RPM just by accident trying to get more power out of it, to no avail. I didn't like the fake aluminum dashboard instruments either. I liked the smaller sports steering wheel though. Overall, I was disappointed
Actually I really don't think that price is all that much. Seeing as there is no blue book because its a class 26 vehicle (collectors item). The price would be based on fair market value and these things get all of the money at auctions. Class 26... God I hate insurance companies.
Hmmm...I wonder...I know someone that has a 2000 R with only 2,500 miles....wonder how much he can get for it.
