ITR windshield thickness
So I had to change my windshield (98 ITR). I found out that there is only one part # for all 98 integra coupe for that (73111st7a01). During the change we (me and the glass guy) compared the thickness of the new glass and the original and they were the same as well.
It is possible that the original may be lighter with the same thickness, but I didn't chech for that.
So to all who thought ITR came with a thinner windshield... nope.

When mine got broken, I made sure to check part numbers for '98 and '00 Type R's and GS-R's to make sure, because I thought it was a different windshield as well. Didn't check '97 tho
I recall reading a Type R review in a British magazine that made a big deal out of the "30% thinner windscreen." So if it is thinner, it's on non-US models only. Doubt the DOT would take kindly to thin windshields.

For what it's worth, I don't mind the stronger windsheild. Ever get nailed by a bug on a motorcycle? They friggen hurt! Imagine a rock in the windshield @ 100 mph! Thincker is better!
If you want to go light weight and super strong go lexan. You will need to replace it every year because the scratch, and you will have to carefully clean it in 1 direction only. But they are light and strong....actually bullet proof.

ACtually I suspect the reason they made thicker windsield glass isn't driven by the DOT but by the US market. Being badged as an Acura people will expect a little more from the windshield.
EVery time Carlex Glass Co(The company I work for) is asked to make a thicker windshield for a manufacturer it is usually driven by the public. Most likely due to cracking and chipping they make the glass thicker. This was just done on wone of the cars I have on the Nissan account. The Frontier pick up truck went from 4.x m. to 5+ mm.

every time Ive been on a bike it was when I was young and holding onto my brother for dear life, so I guess the bugs hit him. We went 160 on his VFR over a bridge in Boston, that was one of the best days of my life.
