Valve clearance questions
1. When doing an adjustment how can I find TDC if my head has been milled and with aftermarket cam gears?
2. If the clearances are on the tight side, would this cause idle fluctuations (800-200-800)?

1. To find tdc or as close as it gets....take out the cylinder #1 spark plug, and put a long screwdriver in it. Then line up the white mark on the pulley. That should be tdc. To double check watch the screwdriver to make sure the piston is at the top of its stroke. The bottom end with be true tdc, because milling does not effect the bottom end.The teeth on the cam gears should line up all the way, if not really really close.(even if they are tuned)When everything is lined up correctly(or as close as it will get with a milled head) there will be two holes on t5he cam that will line up with holes on the cam tower covers. Insert two smaLL screwdrivers in there, assuring the motor is at tdc. 2. if the valves are really tight they will vastly effect the idle. But it souns like they are way way to tight. The feeler guage should have very light drag on it.(closer to the loose spec.) Also i have learned that the clearences come out better if you adjust them at the very heel of the cam.
