Default y8 head and y7 block a few questions

Im posting this for a friend who I'm helping out. Just as the title says its a y7 block(stock pistons) and a y8 head(unmilled). First of all what is the comp ratio with this setup and is the y7 timing belt any different from the y8(i'd look on majestic but the site is down again). We used a y7 timing belt and when everything is timed the valves are barely smacking the pistons. Any help or advice would be great. TIA
