OT: good floor jack?
im looking to buy a 2-3 ton floor jack that will lift high enough so i can jack my car up from the front radiator support/rear towhook and be able to get jackstands under the places for them on the sides of the car. i've seen a 3-ton craftsman one for like $90, and it's the right size that im looking for (lifting-height), but i dont need to lift 6000 pounds. at my work they have a 2.5ton one that lifts the same height as the craftsman, and also has a nice foot peddle so you can jack it up that way, or by the handle (i like that one, but i dont know the brand of it). what floor jacks do you guys use/recommend, and where can you buy them at? also, are there any special ones for lowered cars? i've looked locally at walmart, autozone, and sears, and i either didnt see one i like or what i saw was more than i need. what do you guys use?

My AC broke and they promised to send me a replacement cylinder via Fed Ex 3 day. It's been a week. Someone is getting an unhappy call today...

I have a craftsman 3 ton... about the same size as the Harbor Freight. I got it for $99.
After using a few people's Harbor Freight, I'd recommend it over the craftsman or just about any other 'reasonably priced' jack. It is very lightweight, easy to haul around and jacks up quite high.

I bought mine from there for $159.99 early last week. They do sales and change the prices a lot it seems. So keep checking for lowest price. I'm really looking forward to this jack so I don't have to do "musical chairs" with my two crappy Sears jobbies... this thing is a lot lower then my crappy Sears jack too, so I should be able to get it under the hatch now too

You're right Ferrell, it is very bling bling. I have one
it's an awesome jack and pretty resonably priced for all aluminum. I haven't seen it for $300. I think ours was about $160 or so. Most of the similar jacks like this are in upwards of $500-600. Best of all it only takes six pumps to reach its full hieght.
Most Sears stores carry that nice 2.5 one with the foot pedal. It's a great jack and well worth the money.

correct. But I still use it over my higher lifting jack. It's easier to move around and lifts a lot faster. What I do now is lift it with the HF jack, then put jack stands under the car, then slid in some ramps we made for the race car trailer, put jack on that, and lift again. Usually that'll get it high enough for anything that needs to be done.
Can't want to get a lift tho

When I went to HF, they had another similar "race jack" that had an additional ~2" of lift for about $250

If you goto Costco there are two jacks there.
An aluminum racing jack for 180 I think and a regular one for 60.
I got the 60 one last year and it works great. Pretty damn low too.
And we all know that nobody can touch their return policy
