Ive read a bunch of different stuff about the smog laws in Cali, and ive learned that JDM engines CANT be Ca smog legal and other stuff but the one im confused about is if you can legally swap a DOHC eng into a car that comes stock with SOHC. Ive read that u can and ive read that u cant. Please only reply if u know for sure. Thanks

 

you can swap a dohc motor into a car that originally had a sohc. you just have to make sure your emmissions devices and vacuum lines are correctly installed per the motor your replacing it with. also the motor has to be from the same year or newer than that of your original car. try searching and you'll find a great thread about it.
