Default toda header springs necessary?

toda header owners: what is purpose of the springs on the header. it looks like they would be used to hold the header together, but all the joints are tack welded anyway.

the reason i ask is i recently broke one of the springs on the 2-->1 joint after some improptu offroading adventures. is this a problem?

I think all the springs are gone from my header.

They're just pretty parts

That's actually quite interesting. I've never seen a Toda header in person before, and I always assumed that the springs were functional, to allow for disassembly of the header. It's somewhat disheartening to think that Toda would add them just for "bling".

Perhaps the idea was to give owners who would actually want the ability to disassemble the header the option of removing the tack welds and relying on the springs, while the rest of the owners would effectively have a more traditional, one-piece header.

I bought my Toda header used minus a spring or two. I've had it on for over a year (20+ autocrosses, 4 HPDEs, and numerous trips down the drag strip) with no problems at all.
