Can you suggest H.I.D. lamps for my R?
I was told that the current High Intensity Discharge lamps draw too much current for use in the Type R, and that I would need to buy the halogen bulbs coated in white/blue, giving a similar effect but not being true H.I.D. lamps, such as those found on the S2000. Has anybody installed these and if so what brand/make? Thanks!

what? Do a search or just look around. Currently there is a GB for Philips HID kits, if we get 20 ppl, the price is 410 for the kit. And HIDs work perfectly fine in G3 tegs, including ITRs.
The Halo bulbs are cheaper, but don't work nearly as good as real HID bulbs.

Actually HID's draw LESS power than your stock bulbs. 35 watts. They do need a high burst to light them up which is why you use a ballast and voltage converter but basically using HID's on a Type R is fine and in fact recommended. Those cheap bulbs are useless.
$410 for a kit? What kind of kit is that? I just want to pop in some new HID bulbs, not purchase some new kit for the car. There's got to be some simple bulbs I can buy to install. I've seen ads for 85/80 watt current draw and 60/55 watt current draw. Not sure which is right for the R.
Afeter changing your imitation HID bulbs numerous times, you will wish that you would have invested the extra couple bucks in the real deal HID.

1. You can't use HID bulbs in a car without ballasts to make them work.
2. IF you want HID "look-a-like" bulbs which some people say are less effective than your stock bulbs, they are ~60-80 bucks for Piaa's.
3. If you want HIDs, you will be spending at least 400 bucks, I've never seen a actual HID setup for less (new).
4. The 410 GB is for the Philips HID kit which includes: 2 ballasts, 2 D2S bulbs and 2 harnesses.

the bulbs you are talking about are not TRUE HID's. they just try to make it look like HID.
if you want bulbs just get some PIAA superwhites. they are like 60 for a pair.
i still like my phillips HID kit more than my old PIAA's
