Default OT: Fabricated a cold air intake for Boxy tonight

Well, Willard was in town last night, and filled me in on some maintenance items to be taken care of. Tonight's mission was to rid Boxy of a common Volvo problem. There's an emissions 'feature' on my wagon that routes hot air off the exhaust manifold to the air box to reduce cold weather pollution. On old cars, the solenoid controlling said feature sticks open, which means the intake can only suck air from right off the exhaust manifold. Silver tube in this pic is where my engine has been sucking air from:

Here's the mechanism that controls where the airbox gets the air from:

Hack, slice, tape, get creative and you end up with this cold air intake system, utilizing only stock parts

It's all flex-pipe, so I routed it out below the driver's side high beam, then down in front of the radiator, under the center radiator support, and then up into the passenger side fender. As soon as I can find a hacksaw, I'll bend it forward, cut it, and RAM AIR!!

Same as all my "projects." Powered by duct tape and Booshlaat

Hybrid - Soon as I win the lottery, Boxy will be getting a crate 351 Cleveland swapped in Strap a Paxton on that, and 12's should be nooo problem!!

UPDATE!

Believe it or not, the cold air intake actually works! I took a short test drive last night, where I really didn't notice a difference. But this morning there was an obvious improvement. Quicker acceleration and less hesitation... Smoother power delivery too
