the main concern is to not hit the rev limiter resulting in running lean and going kaboom

I am going to be ordering a 75 Shot ZEX kit for my R.. I know Boba has one, but I thought for dragging it is ok to spray in 1st gear.. I mean doesn't it have to when you have the WOT function..?

Yeah, its me, it goes on today. I have one question though, I'm looking for a computer program to run the r at its best without nitrious and then I need to switch to a nitrious program when I use the gas, is this possible or do I just have to install a Apex timing retarder in car and just crank it down through the rpm range before using?

Ok first thing is you didnt order a 55 shot Zex nitrous kit, the kit comes with jets for 55, 65, and 75. As long as you are intelligent in using your Zex nitrous oxide kit you will not blow your motor. I ran a Zex nitrous kit on my ITR for over a year and a half with no problems whatsoever. Some safety things you need to get are a blow down tube (mandatory when running at a drag strip), bottle heater (need to keep bottle pressure at around 900 psi), and a purge valve ( to relieve wasted nitrous in the line). I launched my ITR in first gear at 5k rpms spraying all the way down the track. I used slicks most of the time at track, best time ever was 12.4 at 109 mph.

All in all your experience with nitrous will be a pleasant one IF you use common sense.

I completely agree with Boba on the Common sense thing (but i still hate ZEX). N20 is a wonderful thing when used properly and will give you some excellent results.

hey

I had it in my R and I blew the motor. Yes its a zex kit and yes its only a 50 shot and yes it has a computer that gives it the extra fuel but it wears the hell out of your motor and it does not distribute the nitrous properly. Not a smart way to go take it from me who is talking from experience. but if your going to use it then it works off wide open throttle once you trun the bottle on and flip the switch. NEVER NEVER use it in 1st gear because you will spin the wheels and hit the rev limiter. You can use it in 2nd 3rd and 4th I would not suggest that you do over 100 miles per hour with it though. You have to be very careful with it. If you hit the rev limiter on the juice your fucked and if you miss a shift on the juice your fucked. It is a very serious thing and you have to be very responsible when using it but I would not recomend it though it like i said before it will kill your motor a slow painful death

thats just my 2 cents

With a 55 horse power shot you can use it anywhere above 3500 RPM 1st 2nd 3rd 4th or 5th gear. I have hit the rev limiter on my motors a bunch of times and it has done no damage but to be on the safe side get yourself a window switch if you are a little slow with the switch gears. NOS recommends using nitrous in burst of about 20 seconds, which means don't take it out on the freeway and squeeze non stop for like 3 minutes. If you blow your motor on a 55 shot you either got a shitty kit or you installed it incorrectly. I have ran nitrous on my Celica for about 3 years and I still have no problems with the car it has 120,000 miles on it and it still pulls like a champ. I have also had a zc with a 40 shot in my ef for about 2 years and never had a problem with it. So good luck and have fun

It is okay to spray in first gear, but with a 75 shot, why?! You will have no traction (esp. on street tires). If you go with a 50 shot, you could probably control the traction in first gear, but yes it does wind up fast, so get ready As others have said, just spray after like 4000 RPM, and make sure you are at the right bottle pressure when doing so. I would recommend a window switch to turn the nitrous on and off when you want, an ignition to retard your timing and have a separate ignition controlled rev limiter, and if you go with a 75 shot a progessive controller may be usefull. Others with more experience will give more imput. Oh yeah, dont forget the J&S safegaurds for larger shots, those things could be usefull

I also forgot to mention that if you go above a 50 shot, get ready for a new clutch, because I have heard the stock one is bound to go out. Drag radials and slicks are also usefull as with anything..

Is this Bram from Canada?

What kind of a shot were you squeezing? How often? What was the specific scenario that occured when the motor blew? How much money in damages if you dont mind me asking?

Why the anti-Zex attitude?
