Some lady rammed into my friend Cliff's car today and shes making him pay for the damages! He was backing out of a space and she flew into him. She said she wasn't moving and that he was speeding.

The cop said "If you can't back up safely then its your fault." SHE WAS SPEEDING IN A LOT!!

I would take her to court because if she was going the correct speed, she would be able to stop in time.

He called me as soon as it happened to come take pics of the area and the damage done to both cars etc. so he can show it to his lawyer.

She wasn't hot, shes the blonde lady in one of the pics above - she was atleast 60 haha.

What really sucks about this whole ordeal is that he's throwing in a new engine and 6speed tranny and he almost had all the money for the install/conversion.

The law is stupid. Even if it was her fault, she still has a good chance of winning if you do bring it to court. Basically its your word against hers, and since he was backing out of a parking space, he is supposed to yield to traffic, regardless if they are speeding or not.

That happened to a friend of mine, exact same story. To make it short, he lost. Best of luck to you and your friend though.

The law sucks, but basically anytime you're reversing out of a parking space, private road/lane/driveway it's your fault.

I got hit in the side in a parking lot by a lady reversing a van out of a space and she made my car go from facing like this ---&gt; I to like this ---&gt; ---. It was like I did a 90 degree turn. And she kept reversing too.

My poor baby was out for a month or two. The shitty part was she hit me the day before Christmas.

I feel for your friend, women (with exceptions) should not be allowed to drive anything other than a Festiva. :D

 

ouch.....it seems that the person that is at fault in many accidents dont get there car really messed.....it usually damages the other persons car really bad....

 

In CT theres a no fault law I think, so either way their insurance premium is going up but its just a battle to see whos paying for what.

this happend with my dad.. his 4 runner got hit while he was backing up and the lady was making a u-turn in the parking lot and hit my dad at the back. the whole bumper came off, and the cop said it was my dads fault because it is the law. the law says that when u back up, u must make sure that it is safe to do so. and i think the law is bullshit because someone can just wait for you when u are backing up and ram the **** out of u, and it's u'r fault. damn the law

She had to be moving! Look at the damage done to the car, it starts at his door, which if she hadn't been moving, would have started from the rear of the car.

Good luck with the case! Hate to say it, but probably the judge will look at your freind and see a young punk with a fast car, while looking at the old lady as a poor lady, who grew up in the same time as him/her.
