AWD type R?
I went to a local meet of cars last night and someone was telling me that in some magazine had an article talking about an AWD conversion for the R's. Has anyone else heard of this or was this guy on crack?
I just did read about this... I don't remember the name of the mag that did it. It wasn't one of the big ones like SSC, Super Street, Turbo, Imporn Tuner. They took a JDM, I think its called an RXi integra. Its an AWD integ with a weaker motor, like 130hp, not sure if its a B series or what. They were only made for 1 year, and they didn't even make to many. They were a total flop, according to the writers. The object it so make an AWD R, but they have to make modifications to the axl and what not, because it was kinda weak. They apparently have more than just some pieces from this RXI, they have most of the body I think. It was an ongoing project and I only caught the 1st installment of the ongoing article.

Part 1 huh, this may get ugly.

yep - Blake told me at the last Expo that he was starting this project. He said that he thinks it will work, but it will take some major fabrication (like moving the Gas Tank, exhaust, etc). A wild project, but if anyone can do it, he can.
I read the article one evening in a Boarders while waiting for a movie. All I can say is, good luck. It's been proposed before using CRV components but the weak link is the transaxle. The rear diff and rear axles are pretty pathetic as well. If they can get those issues solved i'll be impressed. Very impressed.
However, If Blake is behind the project maybe there is hope. I know Blake and anyone who can do a full Type R swap (including the suspension) into a hatch in less than three days, drive it to Virginia (from Florida), and then place/compete in a Speed Vision road race at VIR has got my respect
I'll say this also, It would be cool as hell to have an AWD Hybrid Hatch. THAT would be bragging rights
.
Blake, If you figure it out PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I want I want I want

Wouldnt it be easier to install another b18c5 into the rear of a type R? using another ITR tranny, engine etc..?
basically what Dubsport have done for the golfs.
In this country (UK) there are a few twin engined beasts.
Mk3 Golf with twin vr6 turbo'd or charged (forget which)
Mk1 golf with two 2.2's
Renault 5 GTT with two 1.4's pushing 250ish bhp each.
Mk2 golf Rallye with two vr6's.
Ford Escort RST turbo pickup! with two 1.6cvh Turbo's
They are all pretty rapid beasts. I know the renault 5 was as fast as a Diablo over the 1/4, and the Mk3 golf hit 200 from what I remeber

It was only a suggestion!
Whats the point in making an ITR 4wd? if its for drag the fact that its 3000lb wont make much difference, not when you have potential for 800+whp
The ITR has great traction/cornering abilility anyway, will adding 4wd help? Or is it for traction with say 300whp?

because he runs the car at Pike's Peak. Therefore, AWD will be of some benefit, plus he can sell kits of the parts to ricers for craploads of cash... it'll be the new showkaa thing to do.

I was talking to a guy named Darren over in Tampa that said he was working on the project for that rally car as well....I guess I really don't doubt it as he pulled up in an 80's Ford Festive with a B16....ahahah....funny ****!!! I sold him a couple headers, and he was telling me about it....
What ever.....
