what is the best setup for subs?
I am makin a box for my car out of fiberglass and I want to know if I should make a banpass box and what kind, or just a regular sub sits on top and no ports or anything.
and this is a dumb question, but what do ports do?

I would suggest sealed since you a fiberglassing, and ported will be a pain to get right. The ports tune the box to a lower frequency.

What kind of music do you listen to? Some say rap sounds better with a bandpass box or ported box because it sounds more bomy. I like sealed because it sounds tight and very lifelike. Take a trip to a local audio store and hear both then decide.
I don't like boom in my rap music. Happiness is below 40hz.
Bandpass in fiberglass will be next to impossible, since it is hard to get right when using wood
