Removed Speedo needle!! How do I get it back on right!!
I removed my speedo needle, so I could change the mileage on my cluster. I am attempting to sell it to my good buddy, but his mileage obviously is different. Now I can't get the needle back on right. This is for a 95GSR cluster. Also...anyone know for sure if the gauges themselves will switch over into a 99 cluster? I have reverse indiglos, that's why he wants it..but some of the warning lights are different in the 99, and when the 95 got plugged into the 99, SRS and "seatbelt" lights wouldn't go off...so I was going to switch all the gauges themselves into the 99 cluster..any suggestions?

oh man..your not suppose to remove the needle! their really weak and will probably break...
well since you have it off anyways..might as well give it a shot...
someone in the ITR forum removed his needles and drove his car to a certain speed then put the needle back on. he probably did it on a dyno where it tells him how fast hes going.
or if you know how fast your suppose to go at 3000 RPM in second gear you can put it on then...with a GSR tranny, 2000 rpm in fifth gear is about 40 mph.

set the end of the needle softly on top of the point that holds it at 0 mph. then very gently press it on in the middle.
made the mistake before
you'll be 1-2 mph off.

maybe I didn't post well enough. I got the needle off, and put it back on, and took it off again, and put it back on again. The problem is that there is a preload on the needles spring when at 0, it's not unloaded at zero..so I need to set some tension on the needle spring, then put the needle on..I was looking for a better method than drive and put it on at set speed..but that might have to do..I know there's a more technical method out there somewhere
