cleaning greddy SP?
I removed as much of the rust as possible/ taped off the ss mufler section and pained the piping with high temp paint. The only place its rusted again are the places where the piping has rubbed on something. As far as chemicals you cna use anything that will remove rust.
Are talking about cleaning the actual muffler, or are you including the piping, too? I'll assume you're talking about the former; I"ve been pretty religious in cleaning my muffler every time I wash my car (once a week, and I wax it every 2nd washing) using "invisible glass" class cleaner. If you've got a tarnished muffler the best advice I can give you is too : pull off the muffler, clean off the superficial dirt by washing the muffler with car soap, then further clean it w/ a generic glass cleaner (i.e. windex, invisible glass, etc.) using paper towels, and lastly polish it with a chrome/polished stainless steel cleaner. You may need to repeat these steps a few times, but it should clean it up for you. After that just wipe if down using glass cleaner, and it should stay clean.

after cleaning off the rust with aluminum polish like brasso or other products... give it a good coat of CLP or rust prevention lube..
gun stores carry good knockoffs to keep off the rust.. but thats just me being a perfectionist -_-)b
