I'm starting to get pissed!
Sorry for the OT but I went car shopping yesterday to replace my Type R. I want to lease and nothing compares to the deal I got. I mean the stock type r is amazing and everything out there doesn't match up. Any suggestions in the mid 3s a month for a lease. Looked at the wrx. Performance wise it stands close but looks, it needs some work. Celica too expensive for a pig and my girlfriend will look better in it. Rsx can't imagine paying that much money for it b/c its just released when they will have deals in a year. Any other suggestions. Maybe the IS 300 but automatic? Sorry for the long post but I'm really starting to miss my R. Please help me find something that will match up, and no can't get another R b/c u guys don't want to see me on here again saying another R was stolen.

Next month the IS-300 manual arrives in the US, I'll be test driving one and possibly replacing my GS-R with one.
IS manuals are supposed to be available in Sept.
A used E36 in good condition will still cost more than an ITR. But it is RWD...

The IS300 is a nice car but is it quick enough? You might get bored with it's performance, if I was you I'd wait for the manual ver, even that I dont know how fast it will go then. It's a beautifull car tho
The IS 300 Comes out in August as Dave mentioned earlier. The car is certinly quick. With the stick, it should be even more responsive. However, I would also go looking for a used E36 M3, since there are probably a lot floating around since the E46 M3 came out. And that is a definate worthy succsesor of a Type-R
Good luck Bro

E36 M3, E36 M3, E36 M3.
Seriously, well used E36 M3 (i.e. BMW certified) will be better than anything on your list right now. IS300 is a good car, but it certainly aint no BMW M3... mabe 328i at best.

I agree that the E36 M3 is an awesome car.. I was assuming that he was looking for a new car, but if not, def look for a nice E36 M3
Also, the 5speed IS300 has a "sport tuned" suspension, so i'm hoping for some higher springrates and thicker swaybars, but no real info has been released on the 5speed suspension "tuning" yet..

If you can wait, The 5 speed manuel IS 300 will be here Sept. Took the wife to drive one(auto) yeasterday... We'll see what the manuel has to offer in a couple of months...
Most used E36 M3's will be in the upper 20's to low 30's range, which, will put your payments in the $500-$600 range. Usually figure $20 for every $1000 you finance. Another alternative would be to lease the 330i. You can go to the BMW site and play around with figures. Remember, the key to getting a good lease payment is leasing a car that has a high residual value, i.e. resale. Is your ITR a lease? If so, find out what your payoff is. You will probably come out on top by selling privately. Good luck!
how bout a st00k? i got a really good deal leasing mine. the key is finding a dealer that sells'em at sticker and doesn't jack around with honda's lease rates. good luck d00d.
p.s. i was also considering the E36 M3 but was not overly impressed with a test drive...just not too exciting to drive.

A little off-topic, but when your claim is settled can you share with us, how much they gave you for your ITR? I remember reading a post somewhere about this and noone had a definite answer, since there is no blue-book for our ITR.
I am sooooo sorry for your lost. I know how you feel. When my car was stolen, I didn't know it was recovered for like 4 days. That whole weekend I was depressed and didn't know what car to get. But, you do have choices, especially if you have the ability to wait. Check out those E36 BMW's. The M3 is faster than the R and the regular 6 is slower but responds to modifications very well (chassis and engine).

An E46 330ci has a little less hp than an E36, but it is a much more refined car. My G/F has a 2001 325ci and it is very fun to drive. The E46 has lost some of the great steering feel of the E36, but it is still an excellent handling car. I hear the 2002 models will have a revised steering rack for better feedback.
Speedy what are your lease payments on the s2000 but that will be gone in no time also. ****** thieves. My R was a lease and I was payin 309 a month so I may not see what the insurance pays out to Honda Company. M3 sounds nice but RWD in the snow. Plus I love having a car that you don't see all over the road. Once again those piece of ***** that stole my car. I hope you get elephantitus(sp)

As for the E36 M3's, I looked into getting one to replace my R, but I finally just decided to get another R instead. The E36 M3's feel a lot faster when you drive them, and are faster in a straight line, but there has been one at every track event I've ever been to, and I always find myself almost dead even with them in my Type R every time.
