help w/ new motor burning MAD coolant
I'm not exactly where i should start with the problems.
The engine burns coolant. And it overheats. And theres something in the oil thats either making it burn, (it is def. smelling really bad, dont know what it is)
The Temp. Gauge goes to full hot......even at times when it's impossible. Like when the car is COLD in the morning, turn the engine over, and the temp. gauge goes to full hot, than back down. It just goes all over the place.
So i'm doing an oil change on his car now, and the engine is extremly hot, the oil smells like ****, and i found a few drops of water in the oil cap.
Any ideas? He bought the B18c1, resleeved to 2.0 liters by one (byron) "b18bturbo" who is a good seller, but we dont know what sleeves are in there so we can't confirm if they are, or are not Golden Eagle.....
any ideas or ways to diagnose this, greatly appreciated guys. I saved some oil so if theres any DIY test to see if theres coolant in there, let me know.

*also: there is a really, really odd clear/white film that has kind've "grown" around the inside of the radiator(which is now empty) cap

that's mineral deposit. you're suppose to use distill water NOT regular tap water. and for the overheating, possible problem could be that block could've not been decked and the head not been milled to proper specs which would possibility cause "heat spots" around the mating surfaces of block and cylinder head. I'd get a leakdown test and compression test to see the actual condition of this "sleeved" engine before I waste any more money on it.

interesting. we re-filled it with distilled water just now, the shop he got all this installed at, must have used mineral water. shitty.
thanks for the info, i'm looking into getting him a compression test. Any other possible cases where you could burn coolant ?

cracks inside the cylinder walls, leaking radiators; it'll be small enough to evaporate, cracks inside the coolant passages, and blown head gaskets.
