compression check #'s... soon to spray n2o Help PLEASE!
ok I bought a zex kit, just wanting some extra power. I did a comp check today and My #'s were 130 psi in #1, 156 psi #2, 150 in #3 and 150 in # 4. Now I think (but not sure) that they are suposed to be between 135 and 170 psi. Is that correct? If so is that #1 cylinder going to be a problem for me if I do use the kit. What can I do to up those #'s. My car has just hit 96,000 miles but it feels strong. I'm also thinking that my valves need adjustment. So could that maybe be the reason #1 is drasticly lower than the rest? Please help!
Those numbers are pretty low. Are you sure you checked it well??
I think spraying with your first cilinder in that shape is not a good idea.

Pretty sure I did it right. Remove plugs put in checker and press gas and clutch crank 6 times. Only thing I not sure of is if you have to let it crank six time or crank it 6 different times really short.
You did it right but just crank untill the needle stops going up. Postion the guage so you can see it when you crank. Make sure you pull the fuel pump fuse to keep from washing the oil off the cylinder walls giving false readings. And make sure the engine is warmed up before testing.Do it again this way and record your readings. If they are the same you have problems that need to be addressed. If your readings are low like the ones you posted try adding a capfull of oil to the cylinder before testing. If the readings go up its most likey you rings are bad, if not see about having your engine leakdown tested to find out where the problem is (headgasket/valves/rings). The numbers you posted are low, most people are around 170-220. And the numbers need to be fairly consistant like #1 190, #2 195, #3 193, #4 190.
thanks I guess I will try it again like you guys said. I didnt do it until the needle stops. I just cranked and stoped when I thought would be good. I didn't have any help doing it sdo I'll get some help.
