F22 tranny will work but it is geared towards economy and some people here have stated that you will drop out of V-tec when you shift......

The F22 tranny will bolt on, but you're better off running the H22 tranny if you're not going to boost. If you are going to boost, keep the F22 tranny for its taller gearing.

I guess I know how irritating "v-tech" is now that you guys mention it, it's cool once in a while but it is annoying if you see "v-tech" all the time...

but anyways how far should a person drop out of vtec depends on how far they pull on the RPM before they shift hahahha...if vtec just crossed over then after you shift you'lll be pretty far droped from vtec...

JDM pianoguy, how do you feel second gear goes all the way to 80MPH, and it takes a while to get to 80MPH? that's what happen if you have an f22 tranny...

thats not true at all

the h22a tranny is the best for Boost, NA, or stock, long gearing unless you are making 800hp is useless

not true cuz! i have the h22 w/ turbo and f22 tranny, and with doing both set ups.i would halft to say the f22 tranny is the ****. before 1st 2nd sucked i kept getting pulled untill third by the end of forth the race was over. every time and my speed was maybe topped a 115 at forth.
Now the tranny i have w/ act extreme plate first still sucks .second is great
and the end of third the race is over.i spin out less and gain more speed
as the turbo spools up and when i shift i'm still in vtec.i dont care what any one says untill you try both you have no idea. my set up is more for street
and i'm happy with it. for na yea it sucks because i had to roll around stock
for a while while i had leak problems.you cant compare h series to B or D
series diffrent ball park.

Steven Papakis is running a a custom tranny on a h22 that has 2 gears.
but that is neither hear or their.. i guess what i'm saying is size your turbo
to your tranny, if this guy has a f tranny throw it on and when you get money for a h tranny see wich one you like better.

filthy frank is right...i too have done both on my boosted acura cl with an h22 swap ...i actually have the f23 tranny but it is the same as f22...these trannies are really good for boost (especially 15psi) i have never fallen out of v-tec when i raced N/A or FI....
my best run N/A was 14.7 withthe f23 tranny...with no mods (stock header, intake, exhaust) so i personally think this tranny is great all around

This is nothing but misinformation.

You will be faster with an h22a tranny, there isnt any debate about it. Sure you have wheelspin, so get some stickier tires or run slicks at the strip.
The f22 tranny isnt good for anything but top speed runs. Thats a fact.

You get wheel spin with an h22a tranny because power is actually going to the ground quickly!! You're actually in the meat of powerband a larger percentage of the time with the shorter gears.

Think about it, you punch the gas at 3k with an f22 tranny and dont get wheelspin and you punch the gas at 3k with an h22 tranny and the wheels break free, want to take a guess why? Hey! Thats actually power getting to the ground!

Next time if you guys want to prove a point against the popular opinion of 99.999999% of real drag racers, post some timeslips of both set ups.

I should send this thread to the drag forum so you can hear from professional drag racers why shorter gears are better.

i'm not a drag racer, so i base my opion on my experince. not readding about it or what some one else said. i want a all around fast street car
and thats what i got. i dont have money for axels every run, chaning blocks
and slicks all of the time. my set up feels best for what i'm looking for
this means i have no problem taking out a lot of cars on the street.
your right about putting the power down faster with shorter gears but..
in the street that **** will go no where.we all know this. matter of preffrence i guess. and the 3K thing i launch a 3K turbo kicks in at 35k
split second diffrence and i'm out,
