Default 215/40/ZR16 tires...hard to find...

Am I not looking good enough or is it hard to find tires in this size? I looked at the infamous tire rack (http://www.tirerack.com) and can't seem to find tires at this size.

I'm looking at getting a set of JDM gunmetals, but want to know that when the existing tires go bye-bye, my rims will have some tires to roll on.

Thanks for any replies...

have you, or anyone else ridden 225's? that sounds like a lot of tire on the integra no? don't get me wrong, i just am wondering since i've seen some comments on the size for a 'teg.

my car is NOT lowered...so are you saying that the 215/45/16 is or isn't suitable? i like the stock ride height and don't wanna have to adjust it if i do get JDM'ers with the 45's.

215/45/16 is the JDM stock tire size. 225s do fit on Integras with at stock height (or moderately lowered suspension).

i actually did find the RE010's at this size on tire rack, just didn't look down below the S-01 listings.

...and damn they're expensive!!!

anyway, i tried doing a search...i remember a thread where you (george) mentioned the same thing about the 215's being the nsx tires. how are they different from the OEM's other than size? i'm worried that it may have an impact on the car down the road.

Gah, just when I was shopping for some tires for my new FD rims...

Here's the thread if you're curious:

I am wanting a step up from the re010's, though...

Can anyone recommend something slightly better than the stockers in this size? (I don't care about wet grip, btw, just dry for auto-x and track events).

Thanks!

actually, a typical 215/45/16 is bigger than a typical 195/55/15 . . . the 195/55/15 and 215/45/16 RE010s just happen to have the exact same revs/mile (900).

i'm running 215/40/16 yokohama A520s on my 16x7.5" kosei K1s. like 'em lots. but i'm going to 205/45/16's next time, because my actual revs/mile are higher now with the 215/40's. good for my speedo (reads higher than i'm going), but bad for my odometer . . .

hmm, so I can get the 215/45/16's and they'll have the same rolling diameter as the stockers?

Nice.

Now I just need to settle on a tire that will last 10-12k miles and is better than the re010's... AO32R's? Falken Aeznis?

The Pilot Sports seem to get good ratings from tirerack...

Black R- Go with A032. Nothing but praises for them. If you're gonna be tracking the car, might as well get track tires.

If you want a good tire and don't want to spend a lot of $$$ get the 215 45-16 Falken Azenis..I just got them for mine w/ spoon wheels(+45) and they fit...had to have my fender lip shaved slightly, but this was done already for a previous set of wheels...

If you want other opinions on this tire, ask All Motor 97 or Yosh...they both have them....

And oh yeah, I got em for $89/tire!!!!!!!!! Better than the 010's in the rain too!

Well, you can take my opinion as well as others too.

I have only had them a short time and haven't had the time to really test them, but from agressive take off's etc around the street, I can tell you that they truly are better than the 010's.

Talk to Yoshi234 about the track performance, as he had them on the track recently and he had nothing but good things to say...

As far as where I got them, falken's dealer locator on their website is down, so I emailed them to find local dealers that carry the AZENIS tire (no bullshit dealers that have the crap tires) and they responded w/ two places in Miami (1/2 hour drive for me) it turned out that both places were wholesalers and didn't deal w/ the public. But one of the places had them in stock in my size and were willing to sell them to me. GREAT TIRE, EVEN GREATER PRICE!

Other places online that have them (vulcantire.com and onlinetires.com) both want like $115 each, plus you have to pay shipping. my total out the door w/ tax was $379!

Hope this helps ya George...Also, ask vince (AllMotor97) as he went w/ me to go pick them up and since has gotten them for his ITR in 15" size (205-50-15's I believe)

I traded wheels/tyres with Victor Perri the other. He commented that with these tyres his car definitely had faster turn in, and I can certainly testify that with his Yoko's on my car, I definitely had much slower turn in!
Yes, this is a simple factor of the RE010's being a 215/45 and my AVS-I's being a 205/50. I'm running a larger aspect ratio compared to yours. Don't get me wrong though, I loved my stock RE010's, but for the price to replace, I chose the AVS-I's for $70 each in the 205-50 size. Since I have a set of new 16" JDM wheels in the closet, I'm looking for a street/track tire. I would like a 215/45, but I may be leaning on the NEOVA's in a 205/45 since I wanted to try this JDM tire out. My 205/50's were great at the track, just needed a little more help with turn in so this should be a good setup. I noticed in a SPOON video they ran 205/55/16's on the R. Just curious on why you would need that large of an aspect ratio? Can't the 45's take the heat? I wouldn't go further than a 50 though.

Thanks,
Victor Perri II

seeing as to how much wider the 215's are compared w/ the stock 195'ers, is lateral grip much improved? how is lateral grip affected even with a 205?

i don't race my itr so i may not be well educated in special lingo, but am curious about the term such as "turn-in". does that refer to the initial grip of the tires when making a sudden turn? i'm guessing good "turn-in" is useful while autoxing?

i'll be sure on the other hand, to let you all know how the usdm - jdm rim upgrade goes. thanks gang for the invaluable 411!
