It is time to change oil filter. Which is the best oil filter? Do u get any performance gain w/ better oil filters?

 

stp, bosch or mobil 1, i would stay away from the others, they are junk, or the best to use in my opinion is a jdm honda filter,...if you can find them...

 

Get one from the Honda Dealer, $5

 

What about the k&n gold oil filter? Are they any good?

 

HONDA its what they put on the cars so you know the will be good

PLUS . . . they have a anti-drain flap that keeps oil from draining out when the engine is off so when you start it it will already be at the engine and won't have to go through the filter first.

well the only good honda filter is the jdm filters, the usdm and canadian honda filters are the same as fram crap...sorry guys...

 

Can u get jdm oil filter in US? I read reviews and usdm oil filters are crap too (like fram).

Honda filters aren't crap. They are better than FRAM, I know that. I have a Honda HAMP filter on my car now, and it isn't really keeping my oil any cleaner than the one I can buy at the Honda dealer. HAMP is JDM Hondas factory performance parts, kinda like TRD/Toyota, and NISMO/Nissan. Factory USDM Honda filters are made by Filtec, which from what I know has no affiliation with FRAM. I wouldn't waste my money on a K&N or a Mobil filter, just get a factory filter from the Honda dealer for $5, and it will do you just as good.

OK Dude (LOL). If your gonna make up your mind about what filter you want to use, but the results of this little test this guy did, then that's fine. I ain't mad at ya. I read through it, and most all of his information is in theory, not real/true testing. You can't really judge a filter by just taking it apart. Ever look at a factory Honda air filter? They have little tiny fibers all over the place, but the car still lasts a very long time using a factory filter. The reason that Japan has a special filter is because most all of there cars come equipped with some kind of a twin cam VTEC engine, that would need special filtering like that. I think these expensive oil filters are over rated just like the fancy spark plugs, and plug wires. You just don't need those things on a factory USDM engine in order to make them go faster or last longer. Just my 2 cents.

honda filters have whats called a "checkvalve". like someone stated before this keeps oil in the engine when it is not running. when it starts up there is still oil in the system. get the honda filter, there is NO reason to get an expensive aftermarket oil filter. just change your oil every 5000 miles and run the car to over 200k miles.

our generation is WAY to wrapped up in marketing. they hire people just to think of schemes to compel people to buy a product.

every oil filter available out there has an anti-drainbvack valve, and 5000 miles is waay too much, i usually do 2000 mile intervals, less if racing

uhm, no. not every filter has a checkvalve. and 5000 miles is less then the 7000 miles recommended by honda (check your manual). if you want to change it every 2000 go for it but it is not needed except maybe to sleep better at night.
