Default help!

well about a week ago my car started dying wen i got home like my gauge lights and headlights started dimming and my windows started losing power and i figured it might be my battery but some dude was like its probably your alternator...turn on the car and take off the negative off the battery and if the car doesnt stay on it means its the alternator so now i replace it and wen i drive it home the same thing happens again and it always happens in the rain lol...so what do u guys tink it is?? the battery??

Well first off, taking the negative cable of while the car is on can be dangerous. It could cause a voltage spike. Secondly, why not just go to autozone and get them both tested.

Most likely the battery. I would have the battery tested and make sure it's fully charged. Also make sure the terminals are clean with no corrosion, and tight connections so the alternator can charge the battery.

And this "dude" you speak of is a complete moron. Do not listen to him.

well i got the battery checked and its in perfect condition. Belts tight, no corrosion...everything looks fine. So now im stuck...what could it be?? I need help badly...if anyone has any ideas please tell

Make sure all grounds are secure.

Make sure the nut on the alternator and connections to the alternator are in good shape as well.

My friend had a stripped nut to the power cable on his alternator and had the same issue.

checked everything and cleaned all ground spots...still not werking...its like everytime i dont drive it fer awhile and try to fix it and drive it like a mile its fine but at nite wen i drive it fer like a mile my lights start dimming and my abs light comes on and i lose power...i dont kno what do anymore!
