Milwaukee 9079 Impact Wrench Review
This is the top of the line these days. An 18 volt 240 foot pound unit that really works. It is well balanced and permits 2 different positions for the battery. The unit and 2 batterys plus charger come in a heavy duty molded case. Recharge time is about 1 hour. This one is forward/off/reverse with a slide switch. The 1/2 drive is of the pin detent type. OK-it is not a cheap unit at $299 from Harbor Freight, but guess what-Lowe's sells it for $269. My total outlay including tax was under $285. Compared to the Harbor Freight unit this is a lot of money-but again look at the torque spec's. Also, it carries a 2 year warranty and there are service centers everywhere.

I ordered that same Milwaukee cordless impact from HarborFreight.com almost 1 month ago and still haven't gotten it yet. And now I find out it's cheaper at the local Lowes anyway...
I have to call HF tomorrow and see if they can cancel my order. Thanks for the tip on Lowes!

Yeah, same here!

Yep. The Milwaukee kicks butt. No other cordless comes close to the torque. Much easier than dragging a compressor or nitrogen bottle around. I have had mine for a little over a year now.
BTW, it is actually 18v.

I just got one of these:
from here http://www.toolfetch.com/tools/9079-22.html
$286 plus $8 Shipping No Tax. Had it within 5 days drop shipped from Milwaukee.
Works like a charm. A couple of friends have had them for a while with no problems breaking Z06 Lugs and holding a charge on a single battery for a weekend.

Maybe I'm speaking for the minority, but at almost $300, I can change a lot of tires with breaker bars and such. That's almost two Hoosiers.

FWIW, the one sold at HF is rated at 220 ft-lbs and 19.2V for much less - i only got 1-year warranty, but i can replace it and still be ahead over this one
I have not inquired about an extra battery, although i ought to.

Thanks for the correction on the voltage cicivrr. Twas thinking of another of my tools <BG>. Delivery at my local Lowes took less than 1 week-had to pay first, but that was fine by me as the local tool dealer charges $340 for one.

I hate to say it, but for once my lazy *** agrees. That is the kind of thing I might ask for as a present, but all you really need is a 3 or 4 inch extension on a deep well socket, and you will have those bitches off just as quickly.
Or, toss the compressor (or big nitrogen bottle) in the bed of the truck and have all the air tools......
I know, I know, some of you guys don't tow....yet.

Depends on what you are doing. In between track sessions, it is a convience. In a enduro, it is a necessity. Come into the pits to rotate or change tire(s) in an enduro without a powered gun (air or electric) & you are toast.
