Default sometimes vtec, sometimes not....

when im driving somedays i hit vtec its screaming and i can hear it opening up , other days i hit vtec i cant hear anything?? why is that? my vtec broken?? LOL
just kiddin ...but really whats the deal. thanks

Are you hearing vtec or secondaries? What rpm so we can better inform you?

It may not even be coming on, the ECU has to see the correct parameters from such sensors as coolant temp, oil temp, and a few others I think for VTEC to engage. Is you car warm when you hit it?

also a side note. In a stock gsr its hard to hear the vtec coming on. What mods do you have?

the only thing that i have done to my car is a muffler with 2.25 custom catback, no intake yet...

first one is around 4,400 then the second one is like 5,900

With no intake in a gsr most likely you will not hear vtec kick in. I can only say this becasue I have a 98 GSR with no mods. At 5800 even with no intake I can still hear the secondaries open up at full throttle. Does that help any?
