Maintenance Required Light Blinking? Not From Oil?
I always thought that when the light blinks and or stays on it means you need to change the oil. I gave my car oil not too long ago, and recently the light started to blink on the cluster. It doesn't remain on, but just blinks for now after turning on the car.
Could it be something besides the oil? Maybe the fact that I should change the oil filter? The vehicle in question is a 00 GS-R.
EDIT FYI: I gave the car oil because when the dipstick was drawn, it was low and dark colored. However I didn't drain it and change it completely.

I think the Maint Reqo light you speak of, is just a reminder. I think every 3,000 miles or so it reminds you to do services such as oil change. I don't think it'll go off or reset unless you manually reset it by pushing in the grey button under the steering...waaaay underneath there, look for a grey button.
I know about that button, I was just wondering if something triggers it. So it automatically iluminates and blinks after 3,000 or so miles? If that's the case I'll shut the damn thing off now.

Well, drain & change it! Factory says 7500miles, but most of us do it more often. That's what the reminder is for, and it goes off at that interval.
