Default car wont start after replacing oil pan. help!!

last night i ran over a cement rock on the toll road. i punched a nice size hole in the oil pan. i drove it another mile or so before pulling over.

anyways i replaced the oil pan and now im trying to start my car and it just ticks. seems to be coming from the drivers side of the motor. any ideas on what it could be and how to fix it?!!

TIA

tick is probably your fuel relay and does it turn over?

does the engine crank over? or do you just hear a clicking sound when you turn the key to II (or try to start it)

if it dosent crank your battery could be dead.

it doesnt crank. all it does is tick. and its coming from the drivers side of the motor. i'll try to jump start the car and see if that works.

Any chance of damage to the bellhousing on the trans or something (concrete?) getting into the clutch/flywheel area? Could the flywheel be jambed? Try turning the motor over by hand. Put a breaker bar on the crank pulley bolt and see if it turns. Did everything look OK under the pan? When my pan got crunched, no holes though, I had to straighten out the oil pickup.

Did you get the motor shut down before the oil pressure light came on? Any chance the motor could have siezed? Really hope not. Hope it is just the battery.

I would suspect the oil pickup or the tube were bent some. That would restrict oil flow until the pump is pulling harder with more revs. The pickup has a screen on it and a shield around it and the shield can be pushed up against the screen which restricts oil flow through it. I'm afraid you will probably be pulling the pan off again. Did you change the filter? Try a different one just in case?
