new engine time
Okay its time for a new engine. my current engine took a crap this morning on my way to work. I have a 89 civic lx sedan with currently a d15b2. i am looking for the cheapest and easiest engine to put in but i also want to be able to build it later. what engine would go into my car the best? Also where is the best and most reliable place to buy full engine swaps.
thanks a lot

D16A6, AKA 88-91 SI engine, bolt in, nice performance out of the box and cheap, lots of support, easy to build and can yield good performance results.

You would have to stay with the D15B2 to be able to NOT have to deal with wiring. All other engines are going to require rewiring and ECU changing for MFPI.
I would suggest a D16A6 (probably the cheapest) or a D16Z6 or the D16Y8 SOHC vtec engine. All of those engines have a slew of aftermarket parts out for them so upgrading later won't be hard. Getting a ZC might sound tempting, but there isn't as much support out there for them.

No engine harness needed. You only need various plugs from the harness to add to your DX engine harness. Putting a different engine harness in will not work as the pinouts for the large connectors on the firewall are different. I think you will also need to get a different intake tube or modify yours.
