How Do I Go About Doing A Jdm Front End Conversion?
I dont want it to look cheesy like i have seen already on a couple gs-r's by where i live. I want to know how to do it with exact jdm specs and headlights
first only buy OEM JDM parts. All Honda parts ship with sticker that tells you it's OEM equipment. Don't go buy those fake knockoffs. In the end you got the real front end and a great fit because it was designed to fit from the Factory.
Stay with OEM Honda parts, and find a shop that has done the conversion before, or if your my customer I can walk the body shop guys through it.
i say you go with the OEM metal 96-97 front end.. i dont think 4K is worth for the 98+ spec... you can simply buy aftermarket hid's and make it look the same if not even better.. for example my friend has some sort of a hook up and he ordered me a set of HID's from lexus is300 for 300 bucks.. his friend from parts dept gets them
I bought my front end for 2500 even out the door.. paid 1500 for paint and install.. i know thats expensive as some of you might think but i really trusted the body shop since i have seen their work before and they have done at least 5 conversion prior to mine so i was confident that they will do a good job.. and they did. it took like 3 weeks.. it could have been done in little over a week but they had some other side jobs and i didnt really want to rush anyone since i rather get my car looking right the first time then half *** it in a few days and them come back to get things redone again.
Here is a few pic of how mine came out.. overall its a very expensive modification.. mine came out to little over 4K since i had to buy the lip separately.. was it worth it? in my opinion when it comes to looks most definately! but since you spend 90% time behind the steering wheel you dont see how your front looks.. but if you plan on keeping the car for a while then its a good idea in my opinion. Hope this info helps..

from what i have seen.. 98 spec headlight is a little different i assume because of the HID option.. the headlight projector seems to be a bit smaller.. and the outside glass of the headlight housing is clear just around the projector rest of it covered with those clear looking lines running horizontally accross the headlight. i personally think 96-97 are better looking but thats just me.
I had a similar question. If I fork out the 3G's for the OEM parts etc and drop it all off at my body shop will they be able to basically put all the parts together like a puzzle and make it work or are there little "tweaks" and tips that are needed for eveything to bolt on that they should know about?
Thanks for any info.
I've been thinking about dropping by the body shop to get a very rough estimate on this kind of job, but I really don't know if I have all the correct info to give as far as plug and play of the JDM parts. I have seen a bunch of good pics from Godspeed-motorsports I believe, and went so far as to save all the pics to my hard drive and may even give them a little presentation if they need it
Thanks for any info.

i personally would only take it to a shop that has done it before.. if they had done a few then they must know what they are doing.. its a simple bolt on by the way.. if its all bolted on properly and welded it should all align perfectly.
Well, I live in Colorado, I assume there are no shops around here that have done a JDM conversion before. I do believe(in my opinion) that there are several very high quality shops in my immediate area that I would trust with the work, assuming there are no big tricks or anything to get the conversion setup.

The conversion is in the not so near future, well after I get my turbo kit installed and start to recover from the debt
But the JDM conversion is next on the list for sure.
