Getting a new short block under warranty even with my mods?

Car burns alot of oil. Most likely the rings because compression is still fine. I've been pondering having my warranty look into it, but now I have installed cams on the car. However they should have no effect on oil consumption (problem started long before them). My engine has never been over revved (still retains stock fuel cut) or anything of the like. I know they would cry about it but wouldn't they have to look into it since none of my mods can cause increased oil consumption? Ideas and input please.

it depends on the manager...
some dealerships will deny you warranty on the motor if you bolted on a header
some dealerships will deny you warranty on the motor if you bolted on a header
they probably would not warranty it. Why not put your stock cams and stock pieces back in and take it in. Unless you sold your stuff.

Sold them. Besides legally they can't deny me if my mods aren't the cause of the problem.
Besides my service manager knows of my mods (did a valve adjustment with my cams and noticed they were different) and said I haven't done anything to void the warranty.

Dontcha have a silly amount of miles on the car (well over the warrantied miles).
But either way, it seems like a good chance/reason to build up the engine.

that right there is the truth.
that right there is the truth.
You will have little recourse if the stealership does a shabby job and you have problems later - they will most likely blame your aftermarket parts. Go to a reputable shop and get it done properly.
If you search the archive, you'll see that I spun a bearing at 10k miles and only mod I had was an ATS FD. The dealer was a bitch and would not replace it. They complained that:
1) The valve cover was removed.
- Well duh, how am i suppose to do a valve adjustment
2) The VIN numbers were covered by tape.
- Hmm, ok, so take the tape off.
3) The tranny had been removed.
- I told them the day I droped it off that I changed the gears around and that this does not effect the motor.
4) The header had been removed.
- Take the header off makes removing the tranny 10x easier.
They eventualy gave in and just replaced the main bearings. So I picked it up, after a month, and got about 25 miles on it before its spun another bearing. I said **** it and kept driving it
The damn thing sounded like it was running with broken connecting rods. There was seriously some **** loose in there
Get it towed back to the dealer and I get a call the next day asking what the hell I did to the motor. The dealer said it would not even turn over. I simply told them, I tried to drive home and due to the dealers shitty work, it spun another bearing. Well the dealer manager did not like this at all and told me to come pick the car up. Bull ****, I want a new short block. So I called corperate and had a brand new short block at the dealer a week later
So now it's 2 months with out a car and I go to pick up the car and what do I see? The entire car is covered in white over spray. It even looked like they leaned something up against the front bumper cap and spray painted something. It was bad. Sweet... Time to talk to the manager. Well he did not want to talk to me so I talked to the service manager and he agreed that it was there fault and said bring it back next week and they'll buff it off. I also found a nice gash inside the door jam that goes all the way to the edge of the door and can been seen with the door closed... sweet... I said **** it and cut my looses and have never taken it to a dealer again.

this may sound kinda stupid but how are they going to know those arent the stock cams? they all look the same unless u inspect them closely.
do the cams say anything on them?

I have 73,000mi but the warranty is for 100k.
About the cams. I figured they saw the new cam gears. That's my only guess unless they really do know their stuff.
I wouldn't want the dealer to rebuild it. I would want a whole new short block. I'm probably not going to do it, but was just kicking the idea around.

Most dealers will replace it with a new a short block instead of fixing it.
